Well it's centered about capture of the Winter Soldier who is being protected by Capt America so he's at least the core of the conflict, no?

Makes more sense then Batman v Superman which is appearing more and more like JLA 0.5.

and the Ant-Man suit is not doing it for me either. The original helmet was just fine.

I just don't care enough of batman versus superman to care about the plot... but from what I gather...isn't that about batman getting captured by superman for being seen as a rouge agent and then for some reason the other super heroe's show up?

at least with Captain America, it has a bit more logic to it as you pointed out, so yeah, I can see that reasoning..

Batman and superman should be retitled 'Caught With Pants Down: Dawn of Catching up'...

Especially considering that the winter soldier really set itself apart from the rest of the MCU. They really nailed the tone on that one.

I'm guessing it's a number of things. The film likely focuses on Steve more than the other characters, unlike the ensemble pieces that are the Avengers films. It's also directly following up on the plot of Winter Soldier, with Steve finally finding Bucky and looking out for his childhood friend. Lastly, while there probably are actual villains in it (namely Crossbones), the main point is the hero vs hero struggle rather than the Avengers vs bad guy with an armor of disposable minions.

They're not going to name it Avengers: Civil War when they have Avengers: Infinity War coming in a couple years. It would just be repetitive.
They're following the Winter Soldier plot lines, not Avengers. It makes sense that it's named what it is.

At the end of the day, it's just a name. Think of it as Marvel's Civil War if you can't get past Captain America having his name on it. :rolleyes

PS. Antman's new look definitely doesn't do it for me either.

I've been entrenched in team Cap from the start but I'm starting to question my position.
I'm still against what the Sokovia Accords represent, but the issue about bringing The Winter Soldier to justice isn't so straightforward.
He's still not a superhero. And he is basically still wired like an assassin. The scene where he tries to take out Stark with a round to the head really drove that point home, even though we don't know what preceded it.

Old Yeller was a good dog until he got rabid and had to be put down. Just sayin'

I know it has nothing to do with where this goes in the comics but that's what I've been thinking.

Not digging the new ant man suit. At all

Agreed... there was absolutely no need to change it.

Captain American's costume changes have been progressive improvements.
Iron Man... more or less cooler every time and make sense since it's in his character to upgrade all the time.

Movie looks awesome... the "United. We. Stand" thing was pretty dopey.

Slightly off topic but the other Super-Bowl spots... Jason Bourne looks awesome. The music for Age of Apocalypse was also lame, but the movie looks cool... despite Apocalypse. :/

I have to wonder if the Bucky shot with Tony is a flashback moment. If that attempt to kill him is after they take sides / present, it makes it pretty clear which side is in the wrong.
Ideally, I would be on Capt's side. Given the corruption has not been cleared in the governments and we know Hydra was pretty entrenched, seems to make it clear the Avengers teams should be the ones to make the decisions, not a world governing body. That and the ramification of micromanagement by such. Of course, if they follow the comic's past history...

Assuming Thanos also does get the infinity gauntlet, any death can be turned around in the future, so with this film series, they could get as bloody/deadly as they want and have an out in the Avengers Phase 3 showdown.
