Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

this interesting discussion about the all in
made me wear them this morning after quite some time!

mine are the more recent 2018-19 maybe? version so I’m no help to the quest, but I’d like to know, which lenses did you guys put in? did you go screen accurate or you just kept the stock lenses? (stock lenses that do that strange trick uv400 noticed, they’re grey gradient but look like purple under some kind of illumination)

Hi gio!!

Both my AI-006 are just the stock grey gradient lenses which I think are screen accurate (or am I opening up another can of worms!?!).

They aren't that weird purple/grey from my pics in real life, they are just grey gradient and really do look screen accurate, even when worn.

The only lens change I did on the All-In's was on both pairs of my matte black AI-210, as there's no way the screen used lenses are the stock dark grey/black lenses as supplied with the frames, they are just way too dark to ever look like this...(from p.255)

The left lens without skin tone against the white background really gives away the lightness of the screen accurate lenses, most of the darkness of the lenses is created by skin tone.

I did a light grey and a gradient grey (of course I still kept both sets of the stock black/dark lenses)...

Both my pairs of AI-210 are slightly different (temple tip size, silver plectrum details and nose pads) and unbelievably the lenses aren't interchangeable between both pairs, as the frames have slightly different shapes, you wouldn't think it looking at the above side by side pic!!

Oh no, another perplexing All-In frame paradox!!
Here we go again!! LOL

I wonder how many differing batches and variants of the All-In frame are out there?

Is every pair of All-In's just totally different??

Maybe I should rephrase that and say; each pair is individually unique or bespoke as they are reportedly "handmade in Italy and Japan".

Ok, so the Ironman 2 court hearing scene. Are the screen accurate lenses grey and blue gradient? I have to get them made as well and not sure what the exact color blend is. UV400 Ive seen the previous pics but not sure which one fits that particular scene. Thanks guys

hi, I’m here to open the can of worms

so, the picture above is from me this morning. I think at least in the senate scene the grey gradient is way lighter, since I can't wear these frames at night/evenings. when you put them on white paper the color looks screen accurate, but I think they changed the lenses for the movie scene.

furthermore, under some kind of light these ones of mine do the grey/purple trick

HaHa!! So let's get that can open!!

So I'm going out on a bit of a limb here, as I don't have new versus old versions to directly compare, but maybe the newer versions have darker lenses?
I definitely wouldn't rule this out as the "All-In" frame as a whole is more "All Over The Place" in terms of product consistency!!

So to open with, here's some pics of the new...

Here's some pics of my AI-006 (both my pairs have the exact same lenses).

I've literally only adjusted the color to get rid of that weird blue/purple hue oddly generated from my phone's camera and give an accurate representation of the actual real life color.
I haven't however, done anything with the brightness and the pics were taken indoors (standard indoor lighting) in front of a white A4 paper sheet.

I'm looking in particular at how the gradient is prominently clear in the lower section and even the arm is still well visible through the lens at the top, on the darkest part of the gradient...

Looking at your pic and the product pic too, the lower half seems really dark as opposed to clear, in fact, it may just be the lighting here, but between top and bottom, there doesn't seem to be much "transitional gradient" there...

Like I said, these are only assumptions based on the pics at hand, I think what we really need is both new and old frames together here for some good old fashioned in depth RPF analysis and scrutiny.

as always you’re definitely right, there’s a big difference in the newer version (my first initium frame, so many memories ).

I think to get a more screen accurate vibe, tomorrow I’ll go to my opticians with my beautiful ray ban 2143 and ask him to copy those lenses in scale.

Man I love this community, gets me geeked out excited. With ADD its hard to make the next lens swap on my frame collection. Those Ray Bans look like the movie version too. Your right about the consistency of the color, yikes! Hopefully mine come out of the shop looking Stark fresh. Tanya needs to be in this forum lol

Speaking of Oliver Peoples Altman, I decided to try to make more accurate lenses by going even lighter on a another (newer pair) of Altman and realized they were just too light. The very light brown gradient is there, but is barely visible...

The light brown gradient that I'm trying achieve on RDJ's pair seem to almost go straight from light brown to clear without much gradual transition inbetween at all, almost like the top half is light brown and the lower half is clear with a distinct border which runs right through the middle...

I guess I'll have to stick with my first attempts for now...

The black all-in was relatively easy to identify, the type without the I-shaped hole in the silver pick at the end of the temple arm. 4K is easier to understand, but this is an iPhone recording.

Great work Sake, thanks!! (y):D(y)

As the lenses aren't interchangeable between my two matte black frames, I had a 50% chance of putting the right non-gradient light grey lenses into the correct AI-210 frame, by fluke I got it right!! Lol...

I missed out a while back on a pair of these Prada's, as the bidding went beyond what I was prepared to pay.
They weren't exactly right at the very top of my hit list, which allowed me to apply some unfamiliar "stick to my guns style restraint" and eventually got an eyebrow raising £12.00 GBP bargain (inc. Prada case)...o_O

It's now a hybrid frame as the arm swap was from the bargain pair of VPS 52F TFZ-1O1 that I bought previously (from p.219 + p.231)...
20230222_163331.jpg

I just keep the removed 04F arms with the red Prada logo along the top in the same case.

The VPS 52F arms had been patiently waiting as viable transplant donors. This is also why I didn't want to pay too much for the VPS 04F, as I was probably only going to be using the frame fronts.

I just need to fully dismantle the metal ends of the 04F arms and swap the ends, so that the 2 gunmetal sections match up correctly on the hybrid frame.
20230222_163633.jpg

For individual preference, the Prada VPS 04F are also available in a smaller size of 53□17 135.

I've seen the correct arm variant of the 04F in 53mm for sale a few times...
20230219_105509.jpg

...But as yet, not in 55mm, which is the size that I wanted, so arm transplantation proved to be the best alternative option.

I suppose a hybrid "Frankenstein's monster" frame made from different parts is sometimes just as good!! - I must remember though to tighten my neck bolts when I'm wearing my VPS 04F !!
