Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

According to Jason, only the black and tort were on set. They absolutely appear red to me in the elevator though. I’m not sure what to believe.

He also adamantly denied on multiple occasions that the Superunknowns were in the Monaco scene and said they were LCs, when clear as day they were SUs. Even when I sent him a picture to ask for screen accurate lenses for my SUs he said they weren’t SUs in the pic but he’d make them for mine anyway. Like, how do you not recognize your own product? I don’t understand what this kind of strategy has been. I think transparency would be better saying something like “Same style of glasses worn by Tony Stark” instead of associating a wrong color to it. And if people ask, you be honest and say “unfortunately the ones featured in the film were a limited edition color but the styles are identical” and if this honestly loses you enough sales to be an issue it might be time to consider another run or to find another acetate supplier to remake the color. And if you can’t get enough capital together to make it happen on your own it may be time to open preorders to raise that capital and see the numbers you’d actually sell. It may be a deal where you don’t make a ton of profit but you’ll build a better relationship with your customers.

I love Initium‘s products and I love how generous they have been with deals, lens swaps, phone calls, etc. don’t get me wrong, they’re clearly REALLY trying but there have been some clear issues in some of their marketing and delivery attempts in the past. My personal thought is at the end of the day it’s a small business boutique brand with lower production numbers than like a big business brand like a Luxottica subsidiary for example and I just don’t think they knew how to deal with the extreme hike in demand from being featured in a movie franchise of this magnitude so it got a little bumpy is all. I‘m sure they’ll find true north here in a little bit if they’re paying attention to the feedback and adjusting (which based on the website it’s clear they’re attempting to) so let’s continue to support their efforts and their product but take words on their promises with a grain of salt until they work through the growing pains.

Another minor gripe is that for some reason, Initium doesn't show on their website, the frame size specifications on their eyewear. (Even on their new updated version).

I might be mistaken, but out of all of the Initium frames available, only the "All-in" has the width displayed within the two size options.

On some models the "regular" and "oversize" options don't indicate what that actually is.

I can't think of another higher end eyewear manufacturer that doesn't clearly state what their frame dimensions are across their entire range.

This thread has helped lots of puzzled members over the years who needed to know the sizes of Initium frames before purchasing, simply because the info isn't displayed.

I do understand though, a lot of Iron Man Initium frames are purchased on a "must have regardless" basis and as a collector, I'm no different!

You have to admit, especially when buying expensive designer sunglasses or glasses, that the size is probably the most important and relevant piece of info. that is related to frames.

IMO it's a pretty major requirement to help make your choice.
Once I see a style I like (of any designer make), the size specification is the very next thing I look at.

Purchasing any eyewear without knowing the full exact size specifications, is kinda going in to it blind!! - excuse the pun.

That all said, I'm still a big Initium fan(y)

Initium isn't high end imo mid level at best

The prices are at least mid to high IMO, but do you mean in quality??
Yes definitely the quality is low to mid level. They use titanium frames but the paint flakes right off. High end frames don't do that. The frame color is the color of the titanium they use if you scratch it it's supposed to just make a mark not have paint peep off. I was very disappointed with my initium frames. If i could get my money back i would send back my whole initium collection minus the police cause they are cool as hell. Lol and maybe the bromleys are decent

Does Initium use titanium? It has always felt like stainless steel to me. I know some models use sterling silver.

You know what? I'm not sure anymore i don't know how i got the impression they were. I guess by the higher price point but i can't find anything that proves that they are perhaps I'm wrong and now it's clearer to me why I'm not impressed with them.

You've got a valid point there, best highlighted by Bromley's post on p.152, showing his "armoured edition" All-in's with flaking paint...

For $499 (without lenses), you'd simply expect high end.

Plus, to describe them as "elite" and "armoured" and go on to describe them as "so premier" & "so bulletproof", maybe it means against Nerf foam bullets!!

The white printed font looks really ropey too!!

Maybe it was a one off bad batch or something, that has since been rectified.

Yes i have a few initium frames thaw are doing that. Especially if you unscrew any of the screws the paint comes right off and look terrible.

I've never had any issues with any of my Initium frames so far.
It may be due to how meticulously I look after my eyewear! Lol.
I'm not quite at Elton John level yet, where his sunglasses require their own hotel room with a maintained temperature of 60.8F!

For frame longevity, I use and recommend the "off the face and straight into the case" method:cool: Lol!

I don't have the armoured editions, but if being super critical, (and not to upset anyone), do kinda look a bit like they've been spray painted in red Hammerite.

Haha ya i wasn't as careful in the beginning with my stuff as i am now that I've moved on to really expensive stuff.

Can someone with high influence maybe nudge Jason to list his materials and sizes for glasses on his page. Thank you.

Haha, me too, years ago I used to just throw Ray Ban's into the car glovebox and wonder why the lenses looked like a well used ice rink!

Off topic sorry but do any of you have your collections insured? I'm thinking it might be a good idea since i have over $20k in Dita alone. I'm having a difficult time finding a insurance company in Canada that specializes in collectibles.

Could you not add it to your home insurance policy under "contents"?
If you call them and specify under "single value items", then state the total value to them, they should be able to do something.
The premium would obviously have to go up a bit, but your "home contents" section would have the sunglasses covered up to an agreed maximum amount, $20k might scare them off though!! Lol.

Lol ya I'll give that a try thanks

You can get your home insurance to insure almost anything. It’s what they replace it if/when you do lose your collection that may be an issue. For instance, they may not see your glasses as collectibles when they send out an adjuster. A DITA Flight 006 with the EDITH lenses may just be assessed the value of a random USED pair of Flight 006. So say instead of $1,000, you may get $200. That’s why a specialist insurance company in collectibles is something you should find rather than regular home insurance, but I don’t know of any insurance companies specializing in eyewear.

Ya i guess you would have to have it appraised and have receipts to get the value

Upon deeper review, I'm pretty confident that these are tortoise in both the party and the hotel room. I believe Jason was correct, and any red is the result of lighting and color grading.
