According to Jason, only the black and tort were on set. They absolutely appear red to me in the elevator though. I’m not sure what to believe.
He also adamantly denied on multiple occasions that the Superunknowns were in the Monaco scene and said they were LCs, when clear as day they were SUs. Even when I sent him a picture to ask for screen accurate lenses for my SUs he said they weren’t SUs in the pic but he’d make them for mine anyway. Like, how do you not recognize your own product? I don’t understand what this kind of strategy has been. I think transparency would be better saying something like “Same style of glasses worn by Tony Stark” instead of associating a wrong color to it. And if people ask, you be honest and say “unfortunately the ones featured in the film were a limited edition color but the styles are identical” and if this honestly loses you enough sales to be an issue it might be time to consider another run or to find another acetate supplier to remake the color. And if you can’t get enough capital together to make it happen on your own it may be time to open preorders to raise that capital and see the numbers you’d actually sell. It may be a deal where you don’t make a ton of profit but you’ll build a better relationship with your customers.
I love Initium‘s products and I love how generous they have been with deals, lens swaps, phone calls, etc. don’t get me wrong, they’re clearly REALLY trying but there have been some clear issues in some of their marketing and delivery attempts in the past. My personal thought is at the end of the day it’s a small business boutique brand with lower production numbers than like a big business brand like a Luxottica subsidiary for example and I just don’t think they knew how to deal with the extreme hike in demand from being featured in a movie franchise of this magnitude so it got a little bumpy is all. I‘m sure they’ll find true north here in a little bit if they’re paying attention to the feedback and adjusting (which based on the website it’s clear they’re attempting to) so let’s continue to support their efforts and their product but take words on their promises with a grain of salt until they work through the growing pains.
