Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

They almost have the vibe of the Polaroid PLD 6089/S...



I found them using just a generic search without the model no. - But I searched in French with "Hugo Boss lunettes de soleil", as oddly, using "Hugo Boss sunglasses" gave a different set of search results.
It's now my new global search technique, (and also top tip!!) to also search in the right lingo!! Lol.

Another 2 frames from my recent foreign delivery...

Oliver Peoples Benedict OV1002-S 4129 gold frame with gradient brown photochromic VFX glass lenses (59□16 130)...

Not 100% sure if these are the exact color in "Due Date" (despite my info. card), as there is also the 5242/51 which looks the same, but these 4129 are also gold with gradient brown photochromic VFX lenses, making the brown gradient go darker when outside.



Oliver Peoples Benedict OV1002-S (59□16 130) silver frame with chrome sapphire blue gradient photochromic VFX glass lenses. These are the 5241/3F (or at least I think they are, as the frame info. has wore off the arm)...

IMO, these OP 5241/3F only just cling tenuously to the title of being "movie" frames, given the size of that framed picture in the Endgame scene, but that means that they had to have one of my obligatory custom movie presentation boxes...

I noticed that the 5241/3F look the same as the 4130. I wondered if they were slightly different or maybe the 4130 was just an older code for the 5241/3F, so I emailed Oliver Peoples to get some info...

Ray-Ban RB3342 Warrior 004/51 (in the larger 63mm size. The 60mm on the info. card is a typo)...

I also have the 003/32 (chrome silver frame with grey gradient lenses), but I can't find them at the moment. I thought I'd find them easily, cos I don't own that many pairs of sunglasses!! Lol



I took a chance on some cheap Mosley Tribes Aviatrix S, hoping they would be the larger 60mm from here...


But they turned out to be the smaller 56mm versions.

...But then I found these images and think these may be the 56, as the fit definitely looks a lot smaller...

Received a new pair as well, the Oliver Peoples Kincaid in gold. I have rarely seen this model for sale, maybe once before only. RDJ has blue lenses in his, this is the stock VFX lens, 51mm wide. It's a pretty moderate shade, not dark.

Still early days, but thanks to Burt Reynolds with this slightly better image...



...I'm moving the David Beckham DB 7076/S C9B (QZ) havana honey (50□23 145) further into the center of my prime suspect board until I get a definitive incriminating shot of the temple detail...

You can just make out one of the angles on the top part of the nose bridge, plus a glimpse of part of the keyhole bridge...


The 7076/S also have lenses that are straighter across the bottom, as opposed to rounder bottom sections on other DB models I've looked at.

The earlier evidence seems to be pointing in the same direction too...


I'll keep you posted once I'm 100% sure.


The gold Smoke x Mirrors Geo III are also back again for yet another appearance...

I found these much better quality images of the Oliver Peoples Rayfords...

I noticed that the eyes are completely visible in the upper section of the lenses and that the upper gradient is very subtle indeed, going from an extremely lightish brown to totally clear without a great deal of fade transition between the two...

So I found some close-ish donors which go from v.light brown to totally clear and eventually got around to putting them in.

When skin tone goes behind the upper light gradient, it takes it to just the right amount of color tint.

Another pair of Police s1948 NVAH, which, for €24 is almost criminal.


These will keep in their stock lenses for my non-movie frames collection...

The last frame in the delivered box was just a random €10 pair of Cutler and Gross 1337 (which for that mad price was a no-brainer). I'm weighing up my custom lens color options...

I have 2 "movie" pairs of presentation boxed VPS 53E 1BO-1O1 and also an "everyday pair" where the rubber coating has worn off the top bar. This is a major problem with the frame and I would recommend not reguarly wearing your VPS 53E as the rubber top bar really can't withstand everyday wear.


I found yet another €18 cheap pair (4th pair) of black Prada VPS 53E, but they are the 1AB-1O1 which I wasn't aware of.
As opposed to the black rubber coated top bar on the 1BO-1O1, the 1AB-1O1 have a painted gloss black top bar.

Plus, I acquired 4 more (sub €30!!) Police s1948 colors!!

I'll post some pics when they are all eventually forwarded from my locker.

Now that my movie 52mm pair of Matsudas are at home in their presentation box (from p.317)...


...I wasn't sure what to do with my dark blue 57mm Matsudas that were now outshadowed by the screen accurate 52mm pairs and kinda lying around like a third wheel.


So the cream colored "Mr. Porter" box that my 52mm cobalt arrived in, with the help of a large home-made matte finish decal, got upcycled to this...

The small Matsuda frame info. insert is home-made and I had a spare Matsuda case and box from my M2002, which are now in a genuine wooden Matsuda presentation box.

As the M3023 57mm gradient lenses were custom from my donor lenses box, not really a bad end result for a layout of only $47.99 back in 2021...




Oh, also, just nabbed some Oliver Peoples Dbs 1031/9A matte black...

Apologies for the really long non-eyewear post...

I'd been wanting to do something similar to the awesome Stark Industries wet bar cooler box prop (from p.261 & p.254)...

Due to the sheer size of this thing I (sensibly) decided against sourcing the screen accurate Zarges K470 40846 box...


...And try a kind of scaled down custom version.

I say scaled down, but really I mean totally cut right down and totally altered into something much smaller that could be easily used indoors without taking up a huge amount of space and thus possibly upsetting the missus.

I decided I would make it with the wooden tray section in it's fully raised position, as pictured in the auctioned actual movie prop photo...

I cut the image of the actual prop down to just the uppermost section, minus the lid...

Whilst wondering how I was going to go about making it, this 40cm x 32cm "Koncis" stainless steel roasting tin with handles...

...Caught my eye whilst being unaware of being intentionally herded through the kitchen section via Ikea's clever but rather annoying customer maze trap.

...And the Stark Industries custom small drinks serving tray idea was born!!...Yes, I've officially lost the plot!!

So with the Ikea Koncis tin, 2x MDF boards, 2x small size aluminium clasps from AliExpress and Stark decals, got creative.

I attached the 2 small clasps to the tin with metal JB Weld and after some intensive jigsawing and holesawing, I custom made the MDF tray section to fit 2x Stark Industries etched whisky tumblers (not screen accurate), a mini ice bucket & mini tongs with 2 sizes of fake ice, a mini cocktail shaker and the correct screen accurate (circa 2000 label) bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label, screen accurate Johnny Walker Black Label and Jose Cuervo Especial tequila (I still need to source the discontinued earlier version of this).


The rare and expensive Laphroaig aged 17 years 1987 "The Old Malt Cask" whiskey is a homemade DIY reproduction attempt using a bottle of similar colored whiskey, which also had the exact same bottle shape.


There's a "funvee" homemade drinks coaster and shipping tag too.


Everything including the bottles fits snug and adequately secure into the tray, given that spilling a drink is the adult equivalent of losing a balloon.

From the outset, the tray itself is obviously not meant to be screen accurate, more of a compact and much more portable everyday drinks tray version and fan nod to the original wet bar cooler box.

It turned out like this - (it doesn't automatically lift up or dramatically produce a cloud of icy vapour either, but I suppose if you were to drink everything on the tray it would probably do all of those things and more!! Lol)...

It turned out fairly close to how I first originally pictured it...

With hindsight I'd probably make a few minor revisions, one being that I would have made the cut-outs for the 2 tumbler glasses larger, as after making the tray, I annoyingly retrospectively decided to try to figure out the exact whiskey glass from the opening scene...

I think in all probability it is a Luigi Bormioli "Strauss" tumbler...


A Strauss tumbler could also be from this scene...



So, as I regrettably arrived at this discovery after making the tray, the non-accurate etched Stark glasses are staying put for the time being - unless I decide to get the jigsaw out again.

I might also make a lid with straps like the original prop, by inverting this Ikea Grilltider tray...



I felt I had to share pics of my custom tray here, as outside of the forum not many folks will even know what it relates to, given the cooler box scene in Iron Man is over in a flash.

Makes a decent little side addition to all of my other drink related Stark props and bits holed up in my man cave.

This was made a while ago, but I've added a few small revisions to my "Stark / Loki scene" custom Avengers Whiskey Tumblers Set...

From the scene: 2x whiskey glasses incorporated with 2x Colantotte Neo Legend Magtitan bracelets in the correct screen accurate size of large...

Complimented with scene relevant additions of 2x Black Sabbath U.S. Tour '78 drinks coasters (which are cleverly stored inside of the lid behind felt squares) and 2x metal Loki Sceptre drinks stirrers...

From the earlier part of the scene, I also added two LED blue square ice cubes, they light up static blue when immersed in liquid, so if needed, I can drop a "tesseract" into the glass, just to go the extra mile in being all Marvel-esque...

I think the set encapsulates the whole scene neatly in one box and as this particular Avenger's scene is more well known to the masses, draws attention and comments whenever I bring it out at social gatherings etc.
