Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

In OT frame news, I watched the new Indy movie, and I'm not going to go into my sadness in this thread, but I did notice Ford wearing a new frame as Indy, and I can't find any pics from the scene but I strongly suspect they are Garrett Leight, probably the Hampton, in a brown tort.

If they are rounder than I remember, could be the Clune instead.

Also, it looks like that first pair of blue/grey smoke Downey Bevans Exchange frames again.

I'm not sure if they've got different lenses in, but the lighting kinda makes them reminiscent of the two-tone Persol 2430 movie lenses...



Come to think of it, those lens colors would make a great combo with those frames!!
He should wear more two-tone lenses, as you can color match them with two elements of your attire.

If they are indeed two-tone lenses, the upper portion of the lenses looks to nicely compliment that grey ensemble. (I would go with a tonal match t-shirt for the lower half of the lenses, Lol).

Haha, that must have been a very fancy lunch indeed, to trade it for a pair of Shiller's!! Lol.

I got curious about that Downey Bevans Exchange, so did some web searches again, the Patent Office lists the trademark as abandoned as of June 22nd! That does not sound promising, to say the least. Best case is a name change, worst case project cancelation.

It could have been bought and switched patent names or kept the same under a different company. I don’t see the project going away because it would be profitable if marketed correctly

No I get them done at a local shop, all in house cutting and tint. And I get them back within 3-5 days max. I won’t take my frames anywhere else

After some conversations with UV400 BondtoStark and Ironman616 I decided it was time to bite the bullet on some Aliexpress JMM Ascari. I've compared them to my authentic Vader pair. Here is what I've found so far:

They have the same weight


The hinge screws are different


The bridge has a slightly different cut


The thickness of the top and bottom of the frame is slightly different (fakes are thicker)



And, which I can't really photograph well is a lot of the edges are sharper on the fakes where the authentic pair are smoother.

I did pick up a fair of fake Herbie in cobalt because I'm still kicking myself for not buying them.

All in all, they aren't bad and if you really wanted a pair of Ascari and didn't want to shell out the cash, I'd say go for it. They did a really decent job on these. I didn't get a box or card, I just got a slip case and cloth.


If I happen to notice any other differences I'll post right away! I hope this helps anyone on the fence of getting a pair.

Update: I forgot to add that the inside of the arm says 55/500 but the edition size of the Glacier color was 300.

You can just make out one of the angles on the top part of the nose bridge, plus a glimpse of part of the keyhole bridge...

The 7076/S also have lenses that are straighter across the bottom, as opposed to rounder bottom sections on other DB models I've looked at.

The earlier evidence seems to be pointing in the same direction too...

I wore my Aliexpress Ascari on vacation and got an insane amount of compliments - literally every 2 minutes.

I do wish I had the originals but these copies are a decent substitute

Hey does anyone know where I can get red lenses cut for the Oliver Peoples Corsair frames? I’ve been looking for forever and finally found a pair but they have the gradient blue lenses.

Here's another pair for the Carrera mini collection...



Looking at the shape and top curve of that side arm, I think these are Carrera 6000 2R3Z9 clear frame with stock green mirror lenses (50□23 145 - The large bridge size makes up for the smaller lenses)...

BTW, the 5042/S 900Z9 has similarish arms...

...But the arms don't curve enough along the top edge and amongst other things (like the overall shape), the temple protrusions on the frame front don't match up...

I think I'm going to get a frame from the Initium summer sale, what do you guys think should be top priority? I only have the Police collab in screen accurate form out of all the Initium Tony Stark offerings. Top 3 contenders are the 3000, London Calling, or Concept 2.
