BTTF Futaba Delorean Remote Project

I'm going to have some green vinyl PCM decals made. If anyone wants them PM me so I know how many to get.

Daniel, will these be only to make the red letters green? In that case I'm interested. Is it possible to post a pic of such a decal? How will we have to apply these? I'm not very experienced with "decals" (English is not my mother tongue, and I don't know exactly how "decal" has to be translated in Dutch, so I don't know exactly what to expect. Some kind of self-adhesive sticker?)

It would be a self-adhesive vinyl sticker, green PCM letters only. It's the same type of material used for window signs/lettering. They are very easy to apply. I'm going to try to have some of these made with the entire front panel artwork also. I will post photos and some more details about these when I receive them.

Funny the things you find on the web...

I'm the owner of DeLorean Motor Company Florida.

We are building a screen accurate BTTF DeLorean for car shows.

I bought one of these for the same reason.

Good luck and please post the bits and where to get them.

Thank you,
Tony

*Deathscythe question about Unibox*

Yes. :cool:thumbsup

Sorry to come back to this again, but is the correct Unibox box the "regular" slightly textured finish, or is it the smooth finish box they offer for screen printing options?

The Unibox representative who got back to me said that they have the regular 140's in grey in stock. I just want to make sure that the correct one is the regular one, and not the smooth/screen printing one...

I'm not 100% sure. I think it's the smooth one. I have 2 on the way. They only had those available in black, so I will be painting mine.

They have to be some of the most awesome pics I have seen, with all those Deloreans together. You should start a separate thread so other people don't miss it!

I'd sure be interested in a few green letter stickers. Also in a few sets of the rolex labels. Let us know when you will be offering these! (I'm thinking about 4 or 5 green letter labels, and 3 sets of rolex labels if possible)

Hello everyone!

I followed DMC Florida Tony over here. I was in his office on Wednesday when he showed me his FP-T8SGA-P GREEN PCM remote.

Since he showed me the T8SGH that was on ebay, decided to purchase it for the same reason. With his, I completely understand the need for a screen accurate version. The car he's having converted is a beautiful example, and the detailed radio control will definitely be an asset.

With my car, im not running a fully converted delorean, just a car with the flux capacitor, the correct JVC GRC-1 camera, and now the remote control. I just want it for the show piece aspect of it.

Definitely looking forward to this build up since it's based on the same model I have.

UPS delivered my Unibox 140s today. They are an exact match to the box in the screen caps. (Except the color. I will be painting them gray.)

The red label remote is in the best condition of the 2 I have, so it will be the functional replica. I will have a new front plate decal made for this remote, using the vector artwork I posted above. I'm going to use the green one to build a non-working replica, so I can figure out the best way to assemble the added parts and wiring. It will be built first.

Hey Daniel, is there a reason the "PCM" in your PDF is not vectorized? This looks quite pixilated. I think it would be better to vectorize these letters too, to have sharp decals / stickers in the end, no?

It is vectorized, but it's taken from the original scan I made, not typed text. I don't know what kind of font/typeface was used for the lettering. It's similar to Univers but not exact. If I had a graphics drawing tablet I could redraw the outlines in Illustrator. But the letters are only about 3/16" tall, so I don't really think it would make much of a difference at that scale.

Daniel, I't not that big a job to redraw these letters in Illustrator. I'll give it a try and if it works out, I'll post the result here, so you can integrate it in your label.

Edit: not a big work at all. Here is the first try ;) I can try the same with the Futaba text, if you want...

Second Edit: the Futaba logo can be downloaded in vector online. Here it is (just turn the black into white and resize to fit the label).

Thanks for the help! I was going to try to redraw the logo, but didn't have much time to work on it this weekend.
