While I am super excited to get this hilt, all of the reports I’ve heard regarding astronomical number packages throughout the mail system now (along with several other packages I’m waiting for for Xmas that are now delayed...all non-SW or saber related), I’d be lying if there’s a part of me that would be 100% comfortable waiting until the new year for shipment to avoid possible loss or mishandling on this package now. In any case, patiently waiting and fingers crossed.

It’s especially worrying since there are new lockdown restrictions in the UK. Thankfully, I have 2 hilts on the way from Roman and they shipped out remarkably fast. Order on the 10th and they are set to arrive Monday maybe that will hold me over till this all gets sorted out

An inception? I still don't have tracking for mine. Nothing against Roman. I just think this whole shipping affair is hitting all of us in every industry domestic and abroad.

Yep, it's just rough all around. I ordered a Christmas gift for my best friend back on December 6th and promptly had it completed and shipped out to her, with a delivery window between the 8th and the 12th...it's still in Package Purgatory. And that's domestic here in the States.

So I'll add some clarity here. I just spoke to Lewis on the phone.

So when the 10th was set and communicated we expected boxes on a timeframe. That timeframe ultimately became THREE weeks late and way past even the timeframe we knew when that date was communicated.

Then, by the time that was revised and revised and finally arrived, Lewis was up against his facilities move. And scrambling to try and make up for the lost time due to boxes missing. He had to print labels and associate to each box because the tracking numbers are per order and associated. It's not like he can just batch print labels and randomly assign them. The label is generated PER order so just keeping those straight is a logistic nightmare.

When DHL never showed up, and then contacting them when they missed the actual pickup they came back and said "ooof we're busy you have to wait until we get there"....

Then it was supposed to be at 5:30 pm GMT Friday. DHL did not come. Additionally the reason they stated was that they had to send a lorry which their own logistics missed due to the parcel weights and they never informed us of.

insofar as what WE have been told by DHL, _actual_ pickup of the 500kg (yes 500 KG) of parcels is Monday but could be as late as Wednesday. We won't know until they actually decide to show up.

Lewis however DOES recognize the delay and will be taking care of you guys. I will leave him to details but I heard him say discount....

Thank you for the update. I know you guys are doing the best you can in this situation and I have, and have had, the utmost faith in you to see this massive undertaking through.

Thanks again for the infos! My only request if I may, to please inform us about the updates. If the hilts will arrive, lets just say, in January then they will arrive then. The delay is understandable, it happens. But from 1st of January UK will be out of the EU, which means every package from the UK that arrives into the EU will be handled as an ‘outside’ package, which means we have to pay the Duty Fee + VAT. In my case that is +12%+27% extra.

That is a very good news.
He now will try to find it out if the French lockdown of the Eurotunnel and also not letting freights coming from Dover Port will affect the DHL shipping to the EU. Lets hope for the best.

Hopefully this answers some questions since we’ve been feeling anxious about it too:

Lewis has been...
1: getting the boxes and hilts packed and prepped.
2: closing on and moving into a shop-space to streamline his workload (this was suppose to happen months ago but due to lockdown restrictions this only just happened this week right prior to another extended U.K. lockdown.) Unfortunately he didn’t have a much of a choice with timing in this case -
3. printing tracking and labeling to be ready for pickup.
4. Waiting for DHL to pickup where we will all see the origin scan and tracking info to start to roll in.

Lewis is currently...
1. Managing the shop move-in logistics
2. Continuing to print and label
3. In contact with and waiting on DHL frustratingly.

From DHL: ‘it is the busy season’ (subtext, during the holidays in an unprecedented pandemic)

I can’t speak for Lewis and what he sees across the world but I’m confident that as soon as DHL comes through for pickup many minds will be quite at ease and the delivery time is supposed to be expedient

Correct, and he’s still working on them manually I believe. These aren’t automatic computer batching and generation it’s all manual input.
I believe with this is some of most volume quantity he’s worked through meanwhile getting his shop set up. That’s about it, one guy working hard atm.
Hundreds of other hilts are supposed to show up for his other runs to process soon so trust me he’s getting it done

Unfortunately I have to correct this information, since I just talked with the local DHL customer service 1 minute ago.

It doesn't matter when the shipment was picked up, if it arrives after 31st of December it will go through the Duty process which means added Duty Fee+VAT+process fee (and I suppose this is true for all EU countries, not just mine). Not really good news

I also asked that yes their cargo planes are still operating from and to the UK, they are not effected by the lockdown.

Also talked with Lewis about this, they are trying everything to get all the EU shipments delivered before 31st of December.

Let's hope for the best!

Meanwhile I'm over here just worried about whether my local postal delivery worker will give me the key to the parcel locker he sticks it in or give it to the downstairs tenant who has one letter off from my last name, like he constantly does...

Thank goodness they haven't stolen my mail so far but it still sets me on edge. Plus even if I know exactly when it's delivered, if they have the key, I'm stuck waiting until they check their mail; sometimes this means my package winds up sitting in an open locker free for anybody to walk up and swipe for hours while I'm upstairs ignorant. If only they bothered to read unit numbers along with last names...

Awesome! Probably will end up springing for an elite but I am planning on this being my first FX build so I want to weigh my options. I had taken a break from Star Wars stuff for a while so I am enjoying catching up on your build/research threads now!
