Interest Blade Runner Passport???

Real quick post... as i watch 2049 and sip Johnnie Walker 2049, toward the end when Luv is try to get Deckard off-world, the radio relays the destination. i didn't make it out just now, but it definitely should be part of the passport. Someone back me up in a more sober tone.

So... should we leave it as a USA passport? Change it to "Los Angeles"? I could just change the cover to have "Offworld Passport" written in English at the top and Japanese at the bottom with a more generic global logo in the middle. What do you think?

To give it a bit more of a futuristic feel, I'm going to incorporate a transparent page with some security features that will overlay the main info page. I'll do a test print to see how the effect looks and will post photos asap.

Here's the test print with the transparent information overlay:

From what I have seen and read, the Idea of Nations is no longer really a thing; mostly people are citizens of the Megacities that are now scattered across the globe; for instance Los Angeles is said to span most of California, from San Diego to San Fransisco.

Because of that, I'd say change it to Los Angeles. Everything else looks great!

I don't think that it's clear whether the USA actually even exists in any form in the Blade Runner universe, so I would be inclined to leave that out. Might be more interesting to refer to Las Angeles instead. I also like the idea of including Japanese on the cover, since that Asian influence is a distinct part of the Blade Runner aesthetic.

Maybe "Greater Los Angeles Municipality" instead of "United States of America".

Another idea would be to reference the original novel, which I haven't personally read in quite some time. Does the USA exist in the novel? The United Nations? Some other government?

I agree with the above. I know DV mentions nothing but MegaCities being left, so "Great Los Angeles" or something sounds good to me.

Ok... so many questions and ideas come to mind... we need a real BR expert here, which I am not.

We can change the cover to "Greater Los Angeles"... but what about the seal? The city seal of L.A. is pretty busy and not really suitable for a passport cover. "Futurizing" it is an option, I suppose. But before I invest time in that... are we 100% certain that an L.A. passport is the way to go? In the novel, the United Nations are mentioned as instigating the move of people offworld. Maybe they're the ones issuing passports? I'm starting to think that a simple cover with just "Off World Passport" written in English and Japanese with a more generic global/spacey logo might be the way to go.

The seal of the United Nations would look good on the passport cover, if you went that route. It could also double as an Earther passport for The Expanse in that case too.
