Interest Blade Runner Passport???

On a more serious note. Do you suppose these would be printed on a synthetic plastic Mylar or would a passport be special enough to be printed on a fibrous paper material. Rare and precious in 2049

Needs to be cropped and stuff, but this could be an option for K's passport photo.

I think Indy's photo is more appropriate. Longer lens flat straight on towards the camera.

True, but the photo could maybe be another option, although thats probably more hassle than it's worth. Personally I'd prefer an actual picture of K. Current photo looks a bit to "pretty" for my tastes.

I agree with your logic @cyberblock, but K used a paper (or synthetic facsimile) report after his encounter with Sapper.

@Indy Magnoli, I still believe that the nexus number would look great as a hologram or glowing as did Sapper's retinal number from this screenshot.

Also, K's jacket has the code N7H0009 on its back. Might that be his serial number, unless he nabbed it off another replicant.

Yeah, I caught that with the reports.

I think so long as the passports have the right weight and feel of even current passports I'll be pleased. Those front pages in my passport feel less like paper due to all the coatings and printing combined with paper. The back pages have more of that paper material for stamps. Perhaps an opportunity for an off-world stamp.

Not sure if you put any thought into the additional pages and cover. The cover material on my passport feels like it has more of a cloth fibrous feel to it. I'm always tugging away loose threads on the edges that come loose.

Looks great! Only thing bothering me is his birth date...we know his child memories are implanted, and his inception date was post blackout which was in 2022.

Not to get off on a sidebar, but I think his coat is something like military surplus. The N7 number probably matches to whomever it was issued. I think he picked up second-hand.

Here's the cover design:

Used a more modern US Seal and changed the biometric symbol to an "offworld" version. I was going to add Japanese, but it just looked too busy. But... busy is kind of what BR does. So, what do you guys think? Add the Japanese or no?

I should also state: the cover will be gold-foiled onto a coated card stock (like our other passports); the above is just a photoshop to give you the idea of coloring. The final cover will be made the same as this one:

Hi Indy, cover looking good for "an old style" passport.

I played arround with your design, to give you some Feedback and hopefully some more ideas/inspiration

Personaly I like the "two part" splitted bottom, instead of one big bar Code stuff.

As the intention of the film was to create a vintage look, maybe consider the old school US passport cover, which was green with a repeating pattern?

I was thinking of going green for the cover... but blue is so well known as a US cover, I thought it best to stick with a "classic" design.

@MurdocXXL, I like some of those mods... might have to tweak again. ;)

I like the style of the green especially the window in the cover material. If it works with the info below. I prefer blue also. The scale of the typstyle passport could be brought down and perhaps the Offworld annotation could be made in the interior jacket. I have to go look at my passport, but I seem to recall the interior stamp pages have little facts about each state to commemorate them. Perhaps Offworld gets a page like that, but that somehow feels wrong since it's a place you visit and Offworld isn't a state. Maybe it Is? I have to go read my PKD books again. Seems like I would prefer a stamp visiting this special region as Offworld. Offworld passport, seems like Disneyland passport to me. Takes the seriousness of being a real passport out of it to me. This is all for fun anyway. I appreciate Indy taking the lead on this.

Ok I had another idea. It's a little crazy, but we could add a little augmented reality to this. We could take some specific bar code info and using a phone app project either 3D content or other graphics that float above the passport. Another addition of identifiable info tied to the passport

Perhaps the portable eye camera could also do double duty when it recognizes bar or QR code info. I have some experience with some apps that just recognize the image so it doesn't even need to be something that specific. Just an image.

It's another level of complexity, but I could see this being implemented in other props and could be a fun addition from the physical to digital world.

Thought you might find this of interest - from the "Art of 2049" book, page 47... "The universe of Blade Runner has changed significantly. The notion of countries has vanished, as megacities have become the only habitable territories. Los Angeles is one of these megacities, with its borders now spreading from San Diego to San Francisco..."

Obviously you can take that or leave it as creative input for the passport, but interesting none-the-less.

I was wondering about countries as well, jamesM242. I recall no mention of the US or any other country. Regardless, a passport will go well with the blaster. Strictly aside... SD to LA is pretty much all one city now.
