BLADE RUNNER BLASTER Replica by DAIKI KOGYO / ELFIN KNIGHTS (Japan)

These pics look much better, and ease some of my fears. Still think the $150 price is a bit high for it when you can get a Rick Ross kit for about the same price, Or even a Coyle resin kit. I remember buying the Wilco kits for $50-$75 too. I also remember the Offword going for around $200. It is a passable stunt version, and because of the material will not shatter like resin when dropped. A better paint job would have also gone a long way with this guy, but I don't trust Chinese manufacturers to keep QC either, especially with the detailed stuff. It explains the warped ones showing up in packages. Though the warpage could also have been caused in shipping if left in hot truck, though I doubt it. Thanks for the new pics, I am starting to like this thing slightly, but still not enough to even pay the HLJ discounted price at the moment. Maybe if they go super discount, which they have in the past for the Spinner model kits.

It wouldn't be THAT bad if it was A LOT cheaper. Andy is right, for just a little bit more than these sell for you can get a Coyle resin kit - exactly what I will be doing with my refund from HLJ. Given the fairly wide range in quality from gun to gun the pics are showing (and we haven't seen one that matches the promo shots yet), buying one of these is a gamble and the odds in the buyer's favor are not looking good.

The "ugly, hideous" gun at the 10:47 is a Rick Ross that i just started making add ons. Blue lights, threaded barrel, new butt piece. Adam bought it with my lot of BR stuff from the junkyard. Funny to see it in a video. Adam is a very nice fellow.

When I first saw this post i was going to buy one, glad I waited, because now i will not...
Isn't the missing "Made in Austria" text proof that the promo pics and the received item is not cast from the same mould? Or could there be some legal problems stating this when they are actually made in China?

If there is one thing I hate it's the warping. Also the alignment of the pieces. Actually it's not one thing....

I, too, am disappointed with the final product. I received my order two days ago with great expectation at having a high quality, accurate, relatively inexpensive rendition of the Blade Runner pistol to be used as a prop by the role playing troupe. Upon examining the three items, I was rather dismayed. One of the pistols had a warped upper receiver. Another was missing the safety switch. All three are missing the "Made in Austria" engraving, though that does not particularly annoy me. What I do find most egregious is that all three are subscale renderings, seemingly based upon the Off-World model. In comparing the DK/EKs to the Off-World, I found that the DK/EKs have been truncated by approximately a half of an inch. The upper receiver, the revolver barrel, and the box magazine/magazine housing have had a half-inch excised from their conjoined midddles. This creates an item that is significantly more compact than the Coyle standard sidearm that I was anticipating. I will likely cannabalise the warped pistol for parts and to gain a better understanding of how the DK/Eks are constructed. I will replace the missing safety switch on the second pistol, then present the two whole props to the troupe. But I would be very hard pressed to recommend the DK/Eks as anything more than holster stuffers . . . and, then, only at a further reduced price. The preorder images promised so much; what was delivered is so, so disappointing.

Adam is awesome, but he got quite a few facts wrong in the videos. I won't fault him though, he has more important stuff to worry. Cool to know the history and provenance on that particular replica too. Still no where near as ugly as the classic "Ugly" blaster...

I got mine today.
A bit twisted and warped as well.

The thing that gets me is how solid this is. It’s a realshame. If these things were 50 bucks, I would buy them all day.
I wrote and requested a return.

Thanks jedeyenight for an excellent YOUTUBE REVIEW. Wow....The gun is very small next to the Tomenosuke. I am really surprised that Elfin Knights Company would do this....from a cool prototype blaster to this. What the hell.:wacko

Thanks cratercritter. It was a bummer to have such a let down though. Hopefully it gets to the manufacturer that at this price point, quality control is a must.

Yes......and not just Q-Control. Also the other issues.... "MADE IN AUSTRIA" missing....blaster undersized and poor quality or inappropriate plastic type used(?). etc.

Agreed. Though I have no knowledge of what type of material should have been used, that is out of my wheelhouse. The thing is, and I neglected to mention this is that it feels solid, It has weight. It seems like, it some way they were trying for quality. If the price point was much lower, it be easier to get my rose colored glasses on.

Does this constitute false advertising then?

It's interesting that the "MADE IN AUSTRIA" was barely noticed by moviegoers, and is more a byproduct of the Steyr receiver as opposed to the art department's design, and yet for us the value perception of this piece drops tremendously without it...
