We’ve all seen incredible results on 3D printed medal lightsaber chassis when the finishing is done well (as a Brandon certainly would!).

How much longer do you think the project will take once you switch over to the 3d printing machine?

In from the start (50% payment sent 14th April 2018) and proud owner of 2 blaster boxes. Very interested to see 3D print results.

With regards international shipping, not sure an all-stainless steel model would be customs friendly. However, the blaster is (in my view) clearly a science fiction prop rather than a realistic firearm so I'm probably worrying unduly.

This is probably going to be a long haul for Brandon. IMO, 3D printing metal is not for the faint of heart. The machine is expensive and I would guess there is a steep learning curve on setting it up, troubleshooting, and then test printing just for proof of concept. Then there are probably unanticipated 'challenges' when pulling up the original 3D files and adapting them for 3D metal printing. That's not to mention even the expense or details involved in putting the fragile raw prints into the sintering oven. If there are 70 blasters in the run, with lets say 6 parts for each blaster as a rough guess, that's 420 parts that need to be printed and processed. Then comes wrapping the grips with carbon fiber, and all the metal finishing work (filing, sanding etc) for the other parts, test fitting assembly etc. Let alone the electronics etc... He's going to need alot of time for this project- it's very ambitious but if it comes to fruition, it will be magnificent for sure. ;)

He’s probably dealing with people who’d can do the printing for him. I don’t see this as much a cumbersome task as that.

I thought Brandon said that he was going to buy a new printer with his small business loan. Hence, he was strongly considering printing in metal. I took that to mean he was printing the pieces himself or at least a fair portion of them.

Markforged has been slow to respond to me, i’m pretty disappointed in their sales team. I’m also waiting on a financing response from a distributor of the Desktop Metal Shop System

I also submitted my models to several companies in Canada to see what i would be looking at in production costs. Ideally, i’ll complete the entire run asap, and then offer kit versions in steel and Resin.
