Vader again shares no curve with any of the film helmets. Dome is undersized and facd,is to wideRight of course it's symmetrical etc, is it really far off though?
How about the Stormtrooper? Is it screen accurate compared to the Rogue One version?
It's more based on r1The trooper helmet is way off completely for ANH screen . It's really just a nice, clean helmet. The real version is wonky, gaps, everywhere. The so called vents are stripes painted on the original. In fact all the details are painted on . White armor has all the details.

The Stormtrooper is a nice representation of the R1 helmet
I can see the face being too wide. I am surprised that the dome is undersized though lol I thought it was oversized.
A full size Vader helmet is pretty big. Most of the cheaper replicas are too small.I can see the face being too wide. I am surprised that the dome is undersized though lol I thought it was oversized.
The TK weirdness I was referring to is a much shorter neck opening - it's too wide and the plastic doesn't come down far enough as far as I can tell, then there's the speaker and battery compartment. Looks fine from the front, but the side view and rear view are a little disappointing. Really when I wrote that though I had the Vader in mind, which, yeah, it's just way, way off from dome to eyes, to cheeks, to grills...all of the elements are there, but they're all wrong. It's identifiable as Vader, and the reveal stuff is very cool to be sure, but yeah, just not one angle or line is what it should be, and there's no good reason for it. Still a cool piece for the price, but switching to all-laser scanned or ILM digital assets? Yes please. Would have much preferred an OT TIE, as, while the show is neat, the Mando helmet doesn't really do it for me and feels a little redundant right after the Fett. There was no weirdness with the TK, it was based off of the Rogue One stormtroopers which had an updated design. For what they represented they were very good. The Vader on the other hand...ouch.
Hasbro holds a toy license, not a replica prop license. Probably a good thing because the companies that hold replica and costume licenses don’t have a very good track record of being able to deliver product. Is that because there’s a much smaller market with little or no profit? Who knows..
The Vader was disappointing but the market looking to spend $100 on a Vader helmet doesn’t know and doesn’t care what the differences between it and screen used are. The same goes for the Rogue One TK helmet. Both of which may not be perfect but are an amazing value for those fans who’ve always wanted to own a helmet but don’t have or don’t want to spend the $300+ dollars for more screen accuracy.
People need to manage their expectations a little more.
I really would only buy a new one if it had the two tone paint. But can anyone do a side by side comparison please so I can see the differences people are referring to?
I'm comparing mine directly with your left picture. Other than some paint differences, and small details, and the thickness of the hood's "apron" sides, they look really, really close to me shape wise. I'm pretty happy with what we got.
The chin grille? Can you clarify what you mean?On the BS TK, aren't the vocoder tubes more flush with the helmet than the R1 helmet?
It's a pretty good match to how cut out the ANH Hero helmets were, which in turn inspired the R1 helmets. I like how much more coverage there is on the underside of the helmet face on the ANH Stunts, and filling all that in and replacing the chin grille with a full-length one was a major point of my mods. But that's personal preference -- the original assets are pretty gaping:The TK weirdness I was referring to is a much shorter neck opening - it's too wide and the plastic doesn't come down far enough as far as I can tell
