the only thing im getting confused on is the wiring method
i understand the positive to negative for each led for each row.
on yours, the wiring looks a bit different, what method is that?
forgive me for being so useless!
im prepared to give soldering a try!

There are two ways to wire these - series or parallel. The LED (Light Emitting Diode) can only pass current one way. If you wire these the wrong way around, they don't light up. I doubt that there would be any damage at low voltage, they just don't work because that is what diodes do - prevent backwards flows of power.

So assuming the + is the longer leg, you can wire in series (+- to +-) or parallel (+to+ and -to-).

Diodes have little to no resistance so you need to add a resister to prevent a short across the circuit.

I was going to do a diagram last night to show how it was wired up but I hide my car key so well before going on holiday I couldn't find it.. Had no sleep and at 5am this morning found it in my cutlery drawer of all bloody places lol.

Going to be honest 6 hours is a guess, i reckon you will get ALOT more than that, too scared to stress test as it takes hours away from my max life of my el panels lol, trust me though its probably more than the real mags

To solder the batteries its easy but you just have to be careful you dont melt the thing as its a plastic case, i wore gloves and goggles LOL!! i fealt like Dr Brown >.<

I hope the pic can show you this better, if not let me know an i will take a pic tonight when i get home.

Edit- just wanted to add folks, to charge a 2500mAh battery is not a quick thing that is the only problem with big mAh batteries, i'm guessing 2-3 hours roughly...

also was wondering, when you tried the coin cell battery instead of the mobile battery, what was the difference in brightness?

would a coin cell be enough to power the el strap, el in soles and the leds altogether?

i know they won't last as long as the mobile batteries, but coin cell takes less space, and im trying to figure out a way of saving space.

i will probably get one of the cloneprops buckles shortly. they look fantastic.

ps,

where can you get some cheap 3v inverters? ive looked around for the coin cell 3v inverter pack and can't find it anywhere, but i have seen the aaa 3v el inverters.

Yes, good choice¡¡, I buy all the pieces here as you know :lol ....,(EL, inverters) in that supplier.Send too fast and have all blue variations of EL, and smallest inverters.

That is an awesome first attempt. You may be able to build that up from the back to make it stronger. For the sakes of EL, you can repeat that process using the sides of the shoes and you will have a winner.

Did you mask up around the part? I need to have another go at this really soon.

The only thing, the waffle is actually on the sides only and the base is reverse pyramid which you will need to source the pyramid mat I used.

Ye was only a quick tester to see how this works, I'm happy I understood how you did it now and I can progress to going ahead with making them more accurate as you just stated.

I didn't mask the sides I just put on the silicone then spread with ice cube then took a knife around the edges to remove excess seeping over the sides.

Your welcome An easy one to miss as can be seen on the V2 MAG. The Chinese clearly missed this point.

If you have a large hardware store close, look for PVC matting. The stuff I found is among the outdoor carpets and boating stuff. It is sold my the linear meter (roll with by the amount you want) and if you apply a small amount of Vaseline (apply with a cloth and rub to shine the surface up), should not have any sticking issues. Avoid Vaseline on the actual shoes because unless you can clean it off 100%, will mess you around when it comes to time to glue it on.

Did you get the corners on the tongues? The last images I saw looked a bit pointy.

I made some up the other day but pulled the thread too tight too soon and the gross grain ribbon I used has wrinkled in places. I think they will be find for use though.

Are you on about my white tongues I got made? If so, ye they were well off lol, I lacked a lot of knowledge back then and was basically wanting to slap together a pair of grey mags to get adjusted to how all this shoemaking works.

This time round they are going to look alot better, only thing at the moment is whether or not I use the black leatherette I used for the cuffs with fabric surround, or make the whole thing out of fabrics (black main, surround grey/off black) :confused

Personally, I like the idea of making the tongue out of the same material that the cuff and strap is made from.

Here are mine They are not perfect, but will have to do I think. These were NOT turned inside out, rather the ribbon covers the stitching. I still need to pad them up.

Cavx without quoteing your posts i like what you have done and that you also use the same material as the cuffs, when i do mine i won't turn them inside out either, i'm going to chop a k-mag tongue out and give it to the seamstress with your diagram as a template, if i can get these sewn up cheap enough (e.g £10) i will use another seamstress as well and whoever does the better job will be the ones i use lol.

The ribbon covering the stitching was what i had in mind also and get them to hand sewn them up if they can't do it in there industrial sewing machines, i think they should be able to though as its a really good place i go to.

Thanks glad you like them, don't forget to thank Cavx for this awesome suggestion though as without his help this would not have happened i would be still getting quotes for getting a pair made up (fyi - my quotes received are roughly £800-£1200 for two sets of soles)

Right with regards to the strength of the silicone i use.. i get it from Weatherford they use very strong silicone for the rubber gaskets ect and i swear its solid as a rock but still flexible enough to use as soles. i will post a pic when i go home tonight, so keep an eye out for this post being edited.

I was going to use bathroom silicone just i thought using this stuff here was free and the best strength i can get ahold of without spending hours searching online, however i could be using silicone that is the same as bathroom silicone, i have no idea about silicone ect so hence why i chose this stuff instead.

trying to source the pyramid mat at the moment as i do want these to be as accurate as possible. I still have plenty time to finish these and since the Cloneprops pedestals are not out yet i really won't have to panic just yet.

My pedestal will be black with red EL, i will hook it up to a nokia 2500mah battery, 3v inverter and with dc charger port aswell, the switch i might hide on the surface of the pedestal that way when i put the shoe on it they will light up, when i want it off i will just cover the switch to take the pressure off it so they don't go on until the shoe is lifted and placed back on

you know the inverter you have which you stripped from the aa battery one?
is it not possible to rip it off and just wire up the inverter to the new switch?
or to simply remove that existing switch,and wire up the new switch to the pcb board pins?

or is this a particular kind of inverter which is only working via the pcb board?

I've seen that you can get 3v el inverters which are tiny and come seperately with their own cables ready to use. just trying to find out where to buy them from.
