Black/Red Nike Mag Project

Most likely the electronics in the V2s will be crap and won't last long, so I wouldn't count on using them.

Cheers Cavx! Hopefully have more photo's up this weekend of the fabric, red EL and leatherette.. so long as they arrive through the post.

Update - Fabric dyed black, alongside a red shirt to see the color scheme

These are the dyes i used for the fabric (the red dye and salt is for the soles)

what fabric did you get?

I need to get my aunty signed up I think. She has been a seamstress for longer then I can remember and she does some absolutely amazing work. She did my wife's wedding dress and a few years back, made my cousin a replica of the dress worn by Rose in TITANIC. She designed, patterned and made that from images from her copy of the video. I bet she could do these uppers with no problems at all - especially if she was given patterns to work with.

I won't get to see her until after the new year, but I will be having a chat to her about them.

what fabric did you get?

It's a polyester spandex ponte stretch fabric, which I have dyed black.

Two days to go till I get my uppers back again, slightly nerve racking tbh as I haven't been in for a few days, roll on Wednesday!!

Well I have my uppers finally!!

As you can see from the photos they are free standing, not sewn together, glued Ect as I have to do all that but you can see the shape(that I will slightly sharpen up) but my sock idea worked :)

When there glued and on a sole they will look allot better obviously, oh also a pic of my elastic, thanks for suggesting the spray paint idea Cavx it worked really well(I also dyed it) :D

I will have more pics in a few days when I have a bit more time on my hands to get stuck into these.

*2m Ivory plush back 13mm light-stretch strapping bra/lingerie trim * multiple purchases sent as one length

The pic should be the elastic on a teddy bear, it's white but I sprayed it black.

Thank you for your feedback I appreciate it! :)

These shoes are coming right along. Keep it up, I'm glad you still had interest to finish yours (unlike some other guys who "lost interest" upon the 2-week mark. )

Thanks for that! It's reassuring knowing other people see the potential and that is what keeps me going, without your comments this would not be going as well so a massive thank you to everyone who is supporting this build and I hope I can keep it up :)

Oh here's the swoosh, not the final one just a rough freehand with scissors but it scales things up a little better.

So ripped up a pair of kmags as I wanted to see how the uppers look on a black/red sole.

After I fix the shape a little more its onto the cuffs :)

I am just really curious how you will do that internal seam. In the last week, I have sewn up 4 different uppers working out different ways to do this. One pair's liner used a different profile to the outer so it extended past on the inside. It was neat because it allowed the top seam to be blended.

I did work on a pair today. These are my "MAG Lite" FX pair and their lace box is the inside liner which again helps hold the seam together.

not to sound unprepared but i have no idea just yet lol, i also have some spare "test" mags kicking about and spare soles so this will be trial and error till its right.

I will keep in touch with you with my progress mate and hopefully we can figure it out together :)

I might post my images in my thread which show the extended part I was talking about.

These are coming along splendidly! Awesome work man!

Thanks man! The soles are still to be changed but they still look good, imagine what they will look like with the clear soles dyed red with red el underneath... I can't wait! :D

Keep me posted Cavx! Well up for figuring it out with you after all this is a tribute shoe to yourself, punisher and fyfe so the more ideas i can get the easier this build will be, oh also today i got a contact for a highly rated cobbler so I am taking my uppers and a random sole to him, as I would like his additional input to hopefully give us another option to do this incase crap hits the fan

Well it's been a a while since a update but I have not given up!!

My cuffs returned from the seamstress a few days back and I have been working on the inserts just making sure they will look right when I finally set the inside.

I can't set these as I don't have my new switches yet, I need to fit them to the top corner of the cuffs so hence my slight delay with these.

Here is a rough look though so far.

sir i love what you are doing here. i will love to see the finished product!

hey taff, was wondering if you could explain how to modify the 3v mini inverter board you got to make a connection for the LED lights?

and what about the moving of the switch that comes with the 3v mini inverter?

i looked at clonemags image here
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fIS-NS2nCW4/UG9xCRSr5pI/AAAAAAAAALE/dqRwH9DsF08/s1600/IMG_2800.JPG

clonemag has used his own different rechargeable coin cell (panasonic VL-lithium 3032, 3V,100Mah)

(rather than cr2032 that comes with the 3v mini inverter) connected to a small charging pin.

I understand that bit. do you think this is right?

1.) remove the cr2032 baterry, replace it with the rechargeable 3032 battery and also add a 2mm dc jack for charging.
2.) remove the existing fixed on/off toggle switch, replace with it a longer wire going to a new push button switch.
3.) adding a wire from the new battery and a wire from the new on /off switch to the LEDs
like in jedifyfes diagram?

i think i may have a go but not totally sure on what to do for the resisters for the leds, if using that 3v panasonic battery.

would be great to have all the setup inside the buckle, without having to hack any of the soles away!

Thanks Man & Airair ;)

The Cloneprops buckle I posted with the inverter inside is off a 3v, 2xAAA batt inverter, it actually started 13cm long but now it's stripped i think it is suitable for the job however the 3v coin cell when they are available again I will get two for the v2's(not these as I want to stick to 9v rechargeable with 750mah.

Yes Cloneprops had to swap it out as the battery that comes with the inverter is not rechargeable, I got two from eBay but cost £15 :( not cheap!!

Right the switch should be ignored on the inverter and instead run another (+) to the switch on the v2, will it work? I really don't know as I don't have a pair to try this on, but I don't see why not as the switch makes the connection for the lights.

Remember at this stage it's trial and error, we know nothing about the v2's electrics and that will be my job to figure out and write up a thread with my findings :)

Ps I got my D.C Port jacks from eBay, I would advise buying an adjustable voltage d.c power supply as you will need it to be 3v, also on eBay :)
