Bandai release schedule

About the only ship which seemed to be an evolved version of an OT craft is the T-70- it is a smaller, lighter edition with enough differences. The First Order TIEs were a terrible mistake- even through the do have some greebly differences they come across on screen and just color reversed standard Imperial TIEs. At very least they should have been streamlined versions of the TIE Interceptor, the more advanced TIE without some of the standard one's design flaws (like limited visibility). I only bought the Special Forces TIE kit because it was different enough from the classic as to not make me mad.

Someone in charge had better realize that what makes merchandising work with Star Wars is having cool, interesting designs- if the next film is filled once again with minor variants and uninspired, heavy handed garbage they might as well give up on all that wonderful licensed income they assume will drop into their laps...

It's like waiting for the Superbowl... Only this doesn't suck like that did...lol... I can't wait for it to be Monday

If it's anything other than a TIE bomber, PG SD, or Sandcrawler I will be outraged, and will express my outrage on Facebook and Instagram and other social media.

...or TIE Avenger, which disney ripped off while designing Silencer. Remember when I told that Disney SW designs are so unoriginal that it hurts?

The Avenger is essentially an Advanced and Interceptor mashed together. The Silencer goes a step further and changes the viewport but yes, they are incredibly similar. Personally I very much like the Silencer design, moreso than the Avenger.

It’s still Lucasfilm that are behind the designs, and the Art of books show there are some incredibly original concepts being created during preproduction. So what ends up in the final film is pretty much down to the directors. Much like Lucas would pick from umpteen designs, so are these guys.

wasnt there significant lay-ffs at LucasArts when Disney bought them? If I remember correctly, whole story team was totally new. Anyway, it's less about who makes final decisions and more how lazy and uninspiring those decisions are. I mean, why do they even dropped off EU, when they're constantly reusing stuff from it, usually in less interesting way? (but I'd admit, silencer looks slightly cooler than avenger).

ANYWAY, I'm pretty sure that they'll announce something, that can easily get p-bandai variant in the future. Last year gunpla models were all about that - one base model for regular release, two p-bandai variants and expansion packs a little bit later. Maybe only PG ISD might be big enough to be released even without premium stuff coming along.

I don't keep track of such things, so forgive me, but were there other times that Bandai did a similar tease to this one? If so, what kits were the result? Asking for a friend.

FYI, LucasArts was the video game company - nothing to do with designs for the film (although they did give us one of my all time favorite SW ships, the HWK-290 Moldy Crow). And it was basically completely dissolved when Disney gave the game license to Electronic Arts. I'm sure there were some layoffs at LucasFilm - mergers always create some redundancies.

I know the vehicle model Death Star 2 got a tease for weeks before its release. I'm pretty sure that others did as well.

The Moldy Crow is one ship I'd really like to see produced in styrene, but I think it has limited appeal even among those who are aware of it so it'll probably never happen.

Hehe, it's always the same when a new model is announced: First the long big wishlist from everyone, then, after the release, the short list of happiness and the rest of:

This is also true of literally everything about Star Wars, especially the movies. A new movie is announced, fans spend years speculating and creating a big long wish list of what they want (and more importantly DON'T want), and then, after the release, there's a whole lot of unfulfilled expectations. One would think after 40 years we'd learn... but one would be wrong.
