Bandai release schedule

After viewing the new Bandai Falcon is it correct to say that it's a mix between the ANH Falcon and the RoTJ one?

It seems pretty accurately based on the TFA digital model, which is a closer representation to the ANH 5-footer than the 32" model created for TESB and ROTJ (though the 5-footer was used in both of those films as well). The hull curvature and side docking rings are definitely closer to the 5-footer.

Which is VERY good.

I think a lot of focus has been on the ESB falcon for so long because
1. It does more acrobatics
2. A studio scale version is way more attainable.

& thats gonna change, because TFA 5 footer digital model can do her own stunts now,.....no need for the 32" stand-in,
Soon our eyes will get used to seeing the fuller shape of the 5 foot model, it will likely get plenty of scenes in the Han Solo spin off film also

& Revell are very proud of the re-release of its Master series FM MF with its flat hull & spayed mandibles,....all based on the 32" stunt model....all for a bargain price....more expensive than its original release:facepalm

Incidentally, has anyone done a real dimensional comparison between the two? Like a real overlay?

Yep it fits exactly,.....I put them side by side also:

Sorry, I meant the two studio models. I'm curious to see jus how much flatter the ESB model is compared to the ANH falcon.

I think another reason people pay more attention to the ESB falcon is the the ANH model was modified so heavily. I would love to see the five footer restored to it's original glory

Well Maruska has his wire diagrams,....he took measurements from the MR Falcon,....which was scanned from the studio model,

He also has reproduced & tweaked the measurements with help from the guys over at the SS 5 foot thread

I have Maruskas 5foot & 32" schematics as pdf

I'll so a wee side by side comparison tonight

Towerhobbies looks like they have the Revell/FM kit prices listed. Almost $300 for the 1/72 Falcon, $75 for the 1/48 X-Wing and $65 (I think) for the Tie!

No wonder Revell wants to block all the Bandai kits coming in!!!

That will be the going price or at least the starting price for other merchants.
Tower Hobbies is a division of Hobbico, and Hobbico owns Revell.

Hmm, oh well. I have a coworker in Japan that will grab all the new TFA kits when they hit the shelves in Oct/Nov and ship them out. I talked to him last night. As soon as I know they have hit shelves I'll let him know and then he will go on a shopping spree for me!!

Ya know what grinds my gears?
One of, if not the biggest, and largely anticipated movie releases since the original in '77, the largest merchandise based and driven movie of all time, probably (and more than likely) the highest grossing movie of all time, and all we get in the way of models from our US based model company are kids snap-together toys and reboxed old Japanese kits that are now widely known to be innacurate.

Wow....

Perfectly said
The best kits that are coming out from Revell at the time of a NEW Star Wars film are kits of the OT from the 70-80's

.....'here,....I got some of this Stare Wers things you like,.....hold on its in the cupboard,....somewhere....'

Yeah, luckily I know someone there too, so I'm good. It sucks for others, though. Again, I'm waiting to see what Hobby Link Japan says. They still have their OT kits listed for sale, including Boba and Slave I.

Company I work for has plants all over the world (almost) and a lot of our employees spend months to years overseas. Luckily, a friend of mine in Japan is a big scifi/anime fan so he knows exactly where to go and what to look for!
