To be honest, the majority of people who like Star Wars like the new movies. I'm one of them. You can't argue that they are bad movies because they killed off your favorite characters. Luke is my favorite, but I don't hate Disney or Rian Johnson for what happened. I was also sad when Chewie died in the EU books.
You want to see terrible SW movies, then look no further than the Ewok Adventures films...lol... Sure, some of the new ships may seem lazy, but these are good additions to the greatest sci-fi adventure of all time!
No, I argue they're bad because:
1) TFA presents you new empire, new rebellion and new Empreror without proper context what the heck had happend since ROTJ. It worked in ANH, because SW was new franchise, but TFA is just confusing.
2) it's lazy - TFA is rehash of ANH, while TLJ is lazy mishmash of ESB+ROTJ, only with few "subversions" like "its not snow, but salt!" or "it's like throne room sceen with palpatine, luke and vader, but this time new vader kills new emperor!" - more annoying than suprising.
3) lack of vision for the whole trilogy - TFA is about JJ Abrams mysteryboxes, TLJ is about Rian Johnsons not giving a damn about them and taking story into different direction. There's just no overarching story to tell.
4) weak villains - kylo never defeats anyone in a fight, hux is only screaming constantly and Phasma was litteraly put into garbage - they all feel more pathetic than threatening. Supreme leader was the only competent villain, but he was killed before we learn anything interesting about him or his backstory.
5) overall bad pacing and bad ideas for the TLJ plot - Holdo doesnt tell Poe her plan because reasons, chase is so slow that Finn can leave the battle for a trip to the cassino, killing ships trough hyperspace jump is now a thing and they could do that at the beggining of the battle, things like that
6) bland new characters - Finn had iteresting arc at the beginning of TFA, but now is used only for commedy, Poe was non-existent in TFAyet they insisted that he's important (not to mention how the hell he survived that crash), Rose is just annoying and Rey... lets just say that the only thing she was doing in her life was collecting junk, yet somehow she's as good Falcon pilot as Lando, beats Kylo in lightsaber duel TWICE despite not having any prior training, she's good at force "just because" and impresses Han, Leia and Luke with everything she does - just definition of Mary Sue. I dont have a problem with female leads (Mara Jade and Janice Solo were cool), but Rey is just too good at everything. Luke at least had prior experience with T-16 before piloting x-wing, was trained a little by Kenobi and was beaten by Vader in his first duel.
7) designs of the models - while some of them had grown in me (like new x-wing), you can tell that they're just rejected proporsals from the old trilogy. And I feel that most of them were rejected for good reason (like that new x-wing - it looks good at some angles, but terrible at others).
8) lack of true rejoice of old hreoes. Luke never meets han, Lando never meets han and leia, stuff like that. I never felt sequel trilogy is celebration of 40 years of SW, rather that they're trying to hide them and kill them at first occasion.
In Solo and rogue's case, my biggest problem was that their main arcs were already presented in books, and books did their job better for the most part. Which is especially funny in Solos case, because movie even stole Hans episode in Imperial Navy

(...and added stupid "explanation" to his surname at the same time :/)
Prequels and old trilogy also had their problems (like dagobah training taking place at the same time as falcons escape), but TFA and especially TLJ is just accumulation of idiotic decisions.
btw. I dont like killing of main characters in sequel trilogy, because it's out of film genre. SW is just space fairytale, where heroes are doing heroic thing and while someone can die during heroes journey, in the end everything is fine. Even in prequels the only people dying are those, who were dead at the beggining of the New Hope. In sequels we have killing people one by one just because they want to promote new ones.
