Bandai 1/72 PG Millennium Falcon (also the Revell Germany rebox)

I'll raise a glass to that brother! :cheersI think most of the problems I have with, and only a few of the newer films is casting. Hayden was a douch and the little kid Anakin was awful:thumbsdown :lol
To be honest, the majority of people who like Star Wars like the new movies. I'm one of them. You can't argue that they are bad movies because they killed off your favorite characters. Luke is my favorite, but I don't hate Disney or Rian Johnson for what happened. I was also sad when Chewie died in the EU books.

You want to see terrible SW movies, then look no further than the Ewok Adventures films...lol... Sure, some of the new ships may seem lazy, but these are good additions to the greatest sci-fi adventure of all time!

The only time Hayden was good was in RotS when he was slaughtering younglings and fighting Obi-wan...lol... I loved the movies, but some of the acting was just bad.

When he was whining to Amidala that stuff just wasn't fair, I so wanted her to say, "look dude, put your big boy pants on and deal with it or you're not gettin any of this" :lol

No, I argue they're bad because:
1) TFA presents you new empire, new rebellion and new Empreror without proper context what the heck had happend since ROTJ. It worked in ANH, because SW was new franchise, but TFA is just confusing.
2) it's lazy - TFA is rehash of ANH, while TLJ is lazy mishmash of ESB+ROTJ, only with few "subversions" like "its not snow, but salt!" or "it's like throne room sceen with palpatine, luke and vader, but this time new vader kills new emperor!" - more annoying than suprising.
3) lack of vision for the whole trilogy - TFA is about JJ Abrams mysteryboxes, TLJ is about Rian Johnsons not giving a damn about them and taking story into different direction. There's just no overarching story to tell.
4) weak villains - kylo never defeats anyone in a fight, hux is only screaming constantly and Phasma was litteraly put into garbage - they all feel more pathetic than threatening. Supreme leader was the only competent villain, but he was killed before we learn anything interesting about him or his backstory.
5) overall bad pacing and bad ideas for the TLJ plot - Holdo doesnt tell Poe her plan because reasons, chase is so slow that Finn can leave the battle for a trip to the cassino, killing ships trough hyperspace jump is now a thing and they could do that at the beggining of the battle, things like that
6) bland new characters - Finn had iteresting arc at the beginning of TFA, but now is used only for commedy, Poe was non-existent in TFAyet they insisted that he's important (not to mention how the hell he survived that crash), Rose is just annoying and Rey... lets just say that the only thing she was doing in her life was collecting junk, yet somehow she's as good Falcon pilot as Lando, beats Kylo in lightsaber duel TWICE despite not having any prior training, she's good at force "just because" and impresses Han, Leia and Luke with everything she does - just definition of Mary Sue. I dont have a problem with female leads (Mara Jade and Janice Solo were cool), but Rey is just too good at everything. Luke at least had prior experience with T-16 before piloting x-wing, was trained a little by Kenobi and was beaten by Vader in his first duel.
7) designs of the models - while some of them had grown in me (like new x-wing), you can tell that they're just rejected proporsals from the old trilogy. And I feel that most of them were rejected for good reason (like that new x-wing - it looks good at some angles, but terrible at others).
8) lack of true rejoice of old hreoes. Luke never meets han, Lando never meets han and leia, stuff like that. I never felt sequel trilogy is celebration of 40 years of SW, rather that they're trying to hide them and kill them at first occasion.

In Solo and rogue's case, my biggest problem was that their main arcs were already presented in books, and books did their job better for the most part. Which is especially funny in Solos case, because movie even stole Hans episode in Imperial Navy :p (...and added stupid "explanation" to his surname at the same time :/)

Prequels and old trilogy also had their problems (like dagobah training taking place at the same time as falcons escape), but TFA and especially TLJ is just accumulation of idiotic decisions.

btw. I dont like killing of main characters in sequel trilogy, because it's out of film genre. SW is just space fairytale, where heroes are doing heroic thing and while someone can die during heroes journey, in the end everything is fine. Even in prequels the only people dying are those, who were dead at the beggining of the New Hope. In sequels we have killing people one by one just because they want to promote new ones.

Sometimes I wonder whether Star Wars fans deserve any future movies at all considering that the prequels had a similar divisive reception at the time of release.

Can't please everyone I suppose, but this is getting way off-topic from the Bandai Perfect Grade 1/72 Millennium Falcon.

Guys. It's not like there aren't plenty of examples of bad stuff in all the SW movies. Or in Star Trek. Or Lost in Space. Or Space:1999. Or in most every sci-fi film/TV series ever made, including great sci-fi films like 2001. Somehow -- somehow -- we can still manage to enjoy these things for what they are rather than what they are not. The biggest problem with Star Wars, IMHO, is that its biggest fans can't stop complaining about the myriad ways they absolutely hate certain parts of it. I too could rattle off a long laundry list of things I don't like about the OT, the PT, the ST, or about TLJ in particular, but there's plenty more that I do like and it's a big waste of energy to spend time being negative. I know that from personal experience because at times I've been plenty negative -- and it's gained me exactly nothing. More importantly, the stuff I don't like probably is something someone else does like and who am I to ruin their enjoyment.

Anyway, hey look... a Falcon PG pic. With engines lit:

@Hunk
well, that's my problem with disneys SW - it's not fun anymore. Prequels had issues, but I wasnt called a racist/mysoginist by Lucas just because I didnt liked his damn movie. And it's not about being nitpicky, I just feel that TLJ was terrible cummulation of disneys mistakes to the point that it started casting shadow at the TFA and other recent movies.

ANYWAY, just give me the Falcons preorder on amazon.de and I'll stop complaining lol. I'd preorder it on www.menzels-lokschuppen.de but I've never used this shop and I dont know how reputable it is, especially regarding international shipping.

That's a beautiful Falcon you've got there!

But you've hit the nail on the head. You can always pick apart anything in life rather than enjoy what you have. I choose to enjoy these Star Wars movies, new and old, good and bad. If you feel so passionately about how 'bad' something is, then you should work hard on going out and changing it. Become part of the movies.

I hate to say, but Sent, your issues with Star Wars are rather nit picky. The problem is we've had 40+ years to analyze the SW universe and picture where we want to see things go. But as soon as something different happens, people label it as lazy or just a copy of the OT. Star Wars is great because you don't have to think too hard to understand and enjoy it. When you do, you pick apart every little detail. We could go on and on about the if's and but's of Star Wars, but I digress. My love of all things Star Wars will continue, and my modeling of the ships, vehicles, and scenes I love will too.

LOL, I think everyone needed a brief distraction, and for the most part enjoyed the banter, I did...but you're quite right sir...back to building our favorite space ship of all time! of course that probably sounds a bit odd coming from a guy who keeps putting off the start of his for one reason or another. suffice to say...too much other crap going on presently :facepalm
Everyone else...back to the modeling table! :lol:cheers
I regret posting that link to the Solo landing gear news story lol and starting all of this lol

Seems like she puts in on him again in TLJ, the scene where Snoke gets smoked? I think anyway
When does Rey beat Kylo in a saber duel a second time? Once on SK base and the other time is...?

you know...I've been thinking...recently the rest of my life is really getting in between me and the modeling table :angry
it's really starting to bother me...

When does Rey beat Kylo in a saber duel a second time?

There is no second duel.

The scene people may be thinking of is the Force tug-of-war between Kylo and Rey over Anakin's lightsaber, which ended with neither side winning because it ended with the saber getting destroyed.

Although if you want to look at it in a different way, Kylo still has his saber, Rey doesn't, so it's technically Kylo's victory.

There are threads about TLJ over on the Entertainment section,.....if there were talk of the Millennium Falcon in that film, the Han Solo movie...(or the OT), I think it would be acceptable,...please keep on topic

Added my last official pieces tonight: the visible screw heads ILM used to secure the rear sidewalls (both sides) near the engines band. I scratched them out of melted styrene rod painted black and finished with silver Rub&Buff. I also added the white filler piece near the engine on the starboard side that was in place during the filming of ANH. Yes, I know it's weird to add the screws.

Now on to the final, final, final stage: checking everything against the reference pictures one last time and to make it's final base.

You can do whatever your want to your model... That's the great thing about this hobby... It is a form of art. Your artistic interpretation is to make it as close to the filming model as possible. I admire your attention to detail and quest for perfection. It's inspiring!

Looking fantastic! Can't wait to see your engines lit up with your milk glass.
