Bad Seller Alert!! TOSPHASER

I was purchasing props and knew Bruce several years before I even knew the RPF was out here. I have never had anything but high praise for his prop work, but more importantly his ethical standards of doing business. And I can say without hesitation that I’m sure Bruce will go above and beyond to make things right.

Thanks Scott! I just want to let everyone know I will take care of Nick as soon as possible! :thumbsup

Bruce told me the same things - "don't worry - trying to get it right - oops - I need to redo it" Plenty of time went by - i want to say a year or so, but he did eventually send it to me and guess what, he included some great stuff with it. During the time i was waiting I got the feeling he was juggling other things - more important things with both his money and time. I really hope you get your stuff. I really do like Bruce and consider his work to be excellent because he loves to make the stuff he sells..

Kudos to Bruce for resolving the issue! :)

Something in Jet Bettle's comments really brought back some memories. This comment isn't directed at anyone in this thread in particular, but I've dealt with a prop maker or two to only hear things like "It's in the mail, mate..." "It got returned. I used the wrong address, mate..." or "I didn't like the quality so I'll do it over... yours will have better features"

The problem is that some sellers are doing a build-to-order business model. They take money, then turn around to buy the materials and make the props. Given that eBay has a 30 day window for domestic shipments and 45 day window for international orders, any slippage on the delivery time due to procuring materials, or the weather doesn't help the curing process, etc. etc. then you run out of time all too easily.

Here is a link to eBay's Buyer Protection program:

eBay Buyer Protection

One popular Vader vendor on eBay would use photos of past work. What you saw on eBay therefore was NOT what he was selling (since he hadn't made it yet) but was rather representative of the TYPE of product you might be getting.

In one case, the vendor had a backlog of over 1 year. He'd create a brand new eBay user ID and would ship product immediately. New customers who were impressed would go online and rave about the vendor, drawing more new business and money to that vendor, while those waiting over 1 year were in pain. Eventually even some new customers got duped - not before the vendor created yet ANOTHER new user ID.

The key to ask these guys is (1) is the product already made? (2) how soon is it ready to ship?

Unfortunately that's no guarantee. The guy could say, "It's ready; I just have to paint and assemble it" and then months later come up with excuses after excuses. You have to determine what the blocking issues can potentially be, and try to keep your expectations as close to "as-is" as much as possible.

Good communication? He washed his hands of his TMP wrist comm builds and I still don't have mine.

I didn´t said that good communication frees someone from fullfilling his obligations. Communication and doings are needed.

I only said it is a valuable good - many problems in the hobby start with bad communication.

Bruce

Thanks for the pm Lichtbringer! I really understand your frustration in this matter.....I just want everyone to know I was not directly involved with this matter...I made the castings and the builds were done by another person...the issue is with the build but I will do all I can to speed this up from my end!

Wowowowow - stop!

I didn´t send a pm ...... you owe me nothing ...... we have never done any business together, i never bought from you.

I only made a generall statement that a good communication between seller and buyer is one of the keys to business that is satisfying to both sides. Just a general comment, i´m not involved in any other way.

It seems your messages got mixed up, you better check again who send you what. Knightone is the one who is missing his stuff, not me.

I appreciate the help you've offered. My main problem on your end is that we were not informed that someone else would be doing the builds when we placed the order for built units. Neither were we informed that it would be a year or more before the builds would be done. If the builder didn't have time to devote to the project, either he should have not taken it on or informed us of the fact so we could make a decision as to whether or not we would just take the kits. On top of that, updates were few and far between. There was a lack of communication when it came to this whole situation and not just on your end, but from the builder as well. As I said in my PM, the whole thing became unacceptable a long time ago.

Right! And as in my pm...I fully understand buddy....I had the kits to him with in 2 weeks of the orders and he said a week or two to finish them!
Next time I am doing a run of resin parts I will get you a couple of kits if that helps! and I have a pm out to the builder so we will see what happens!

I was waiting for a notice from PayPal Bruce. So far nothing on my end.
I just checked again. (10:35 est.)

Maybe it's slow. I'm optimistic.

this will have nothing to do with me paying back Nick if that is what you are saying??? just not sure...not making excuses just showing the effect of these posts on people! :thumbsup
I want to say this is a great community and thanks for your support through this all...you could all bash me and you have yet to do that....I admit fault and am taking care of it as fast as I can.....not because of Nicks post here, but because I owe him money plane and simple!:$
one member stands out...he has not posted here but has contacted me in private, you know who you are buddy! I can never thank you enough!!
this has really opened my eyes as to how this can happen...in the past I have seen it happen time and time again and my self thought another dead beat...or rip off!!! may not be the case? they may just not have the strength to stand up and say I F'ed up! this community gives me that strength......thanks to all, and a special thanks to the One!!! (y)cheers

Same here.

well maybe it can be a bash fest? :lol

something you need to understand is I DO NOT READ MINDS.......Over a year and no one has said anything about these comm builds! if you do not say anythig I will never know...Tripper was commisioned to do these builds..he was paid the the fee he asked for!!!..$$ and a few kits..it was announced on the TPZ Where they were being offered.....no one had an objection to him building these!! no one....
I do not have them! I have not had them for well over a year, only so much I can do from my end, I have a pm out to Tripper but no responce yet, maybe you should send him one too...if he gets enough maybe he will come through!? you never got them? you got them and they were done poorly?? not even sure of the issue!:wacko please send me a pm on this matter! this thread is the first I have heard of any of this......how fair is it to hide and then when someone starts a thread of this manner then lash out with little jabs.........if you are going to say something say it! please! quit with the jabs...nothing can be done with those little jabs! :unsure
