Backbone (Slow) Pred Build, Wip

I did another greenish wash on the dome and jaw pieces. Now I need to find and or make something to go in those cheek ports.

My pred is still alive, I got some naphtha and silicone is on it's way. Now I just have to worry about painting it. Is there a type of pigment I can get? I know about the paint sytem I can buy, I would rather just add some pigment and have plenty extra incase of touch ups. Plus, the paint system is very pricy for just the painting lol.

EDIT: never-mind, I did some more research and found pigments. Now to decide my color scheme

Well, I'm going to wait to pull this all the way till tomorrow. It's about 1/3 inch thick throughout most of it. Overkill? Lol didn't want it too be thin again.

Got the pull out today, but the mold is in hundreds of pieces. It's ok, I only needed this one mask. I'm just happy I have a silicone pull.

Your work looks amazing. Like alphatech686 said very good work for any age. I wish I had the talent you do. Keep it up and I'm looking forward to seeing more updates.

Thank you, I'll hopefully get some more done in the next couple of weeks. Was thinking of taking my foam muscle suit and coating it with silicone. It would be heavy, but i would be allot closer to completion. Right now I'm trying to make this thing animatronic, I still have to work it out in my head first though. I was thinking of making a resin underskull, setting up the rig, then sealing the rig in place inside the mask, then foam filling the head around a life cast of me... I hope that made sense.

Started painting the mask, I can't seem to post pictures with my phone, so ill post them from a computer later.

this is my first time using an airbrush, i love it. i cant stress enough on the value of having a decent airbrush to paint with. i think it looks more natural this way. as promised, progress pics....

That's really awesome. For my next predator, I will be using an airbrush, but for my last one I hand painted it, so I was wondering how good and easy it is to use. Again, this is an amazing build!

Thanks, I never thought I could get this far. And I only just turned 16. That shows that anybody can do this. The one problem I had was finding the right paint mix, then again this is silicone. Its probably easier for latex. Either way, I recommend an airbrush. I got an Iwata neo for about $50 at hobby lobby. I went to their site and found a 40% off coupon. For the price, it work years ahead of what I can do vs hand painting. Here's the site if you need it.

Thank you for the compliments. I honestly don't think it's that good.

Im always interested in new sculpts, once you get that clay fever it becomes an obsession. I only used a small wire tool to do mine. Along with allot of smoothing with my fingers, but i would recommend calipers. It helps allot from what i hear. And don't be afraid to change something, you can always change it back. i ran into that fear quite a few times.

It all looks real sweet man ,  I would spend a few bucks and buy some sculpting tools . I bet you could make some bad ass stuff if you had them , Trust Me !

Thanks, this has been a dream of mine since i first saw the origional. My family actually just bought me a small pack of tools. My next plan is to get some oil based clay. I am all to tired of wetting my clay over and over.

Im molding the lower mandibles now, will cast and paint them tomorrow. I'll post pics when the mold is done.
