Anyone know anything about the John Wick Gold Coins?

I ordered a plated brass again but did a block style lettering just to see if they would print it. It would be helpful to see it in metal to see how the other areas will turn out.

The Extreme Detail plastic sounds good indeed. It should have less visible print lines than earlier versions.

Sorry, should have said gold plated brass.
First they 3D print the design in Brass. And then they use 18 k gold to gold plate it. It has the general appearance of Gold, but is cheaper because of the brass inside.

And how much does it cost to produce one coin in brass plated gold?
Will the gold get off the coin if you scratch it?

Gold plated brass ? This coin from Shapeways is about $68 plus $5 shipping. It is possible that Ultraman can make copies at a cheaper price and still gold plate them if I can provide him with coin from Shapeways. That remains to be seen as they refused to print my original coin. They are still reviewing my revised coin.

And yes, if it gets scratched, it will show the other metal that is inside.

In the meantime, I had ordered the most recent design in Ultra Detail Plastic. Not bad. If only they could print the same resolution in Gold plated brass.

They just rejected my revised coin for gold plated brass. They said the left "legs" of the "MMI" are too small. I could modify them, but there's so much small detail, they will just keep finding problems.

I fixed the problems and resubmitted. They may get tired of me resubmitting. :unsure

Ultimately, if they have problems casting it, you would probably have problems casting it.

So, I will let them work out the problems for us.

well it looks like you're not the only one having a heck of a time with getting things done....i just went to order some platinum cure silicone for casting in metal and my suppliers just informed me that a few different kinds of silicone i was using just got discontinued!
i'm not sure if its because the company stopped making it or because of metal prices either way i'm going to end up using some new kind here in the furture.
these platinum cure silicones can be a pain in the butt...they aren't usually easy to work with like the 1:1 ratio (tin cures) the last batch i had was like 3:100!
by the time you get your coverage area figured out then you gotta break out the digital scale and calculator it feels like your back in calculus class all over again.
i hope one day to find a 1:1 platinum cure...it sure would make life easier lol

I'll put it back up. I was going to wait till April 15th to see the pricing on the new "Extreme" detail acrylic. It should have smaller print lines.

Shapeways is back up. You can find my Wick coin now labeled "Wick Coin 5 Plastic"
They accepted my last submission in brass, but I had to make some compromises to the text to get it accepted.

The brass version will be named "Wick Coin 5 Brass". I will not make it available until I get the product in hand. Frankly, I don't know how it will turn out.

The plan is still to provide Ultraman with a coin and see if he can make gold plated copies cheaper than what Shapeways offers.

I will also offer the plastic version in what will soon be called "Extreme detail acrylic" offered at Shapeways on April 15th.

Okay, Extreme detail is up and I ordered my coin in that material. The only downside....it takes longer for them to make and ship than other plastics.

The print layers went from 29 microns down to 16 microns. Should give a smoother finish and will be easier to paint.

Here's the brass coin from Shapeways. I am happy with the results. The text remains accurate even with my modifications.

The only downside is the print lines in the areas that they did not polish.
