IMO, the bolt, extractor, hammer & bolt release would not be painted b/c those are moving parts that can't be inhibited by the thickness of paint.
There was an angled publicity shot of Solo pointing his blaster as we look at his left side.
It was on a cardboard standup when Star Wars IV-VI were 1st released on DVD.
It clearly showed the bolt in the white.
The extractor, bolt stop & most triggers are blued (color = blue).
You can also get a decent looking blued color on the extractor by running a blue magic marker over it and them wiping it off quickly in one direction: no chemicals needed.
To get these parts on the MGC & Denix C-96's looking right, you have to remove the parts & file them flat. I did this to an MGC years ago- nice, sharp, crisp edges down to the bare die cast metal. Wire brush for the serrated edges of the bolt & trigger.
Again, I base this on how you'd actually need those parts to be free to do their job, and from the few, scant images of the actual pistol used.
Make it look like a pistol, then a blaster.

everything shipped today, I will have to mail out the scope crosshairs next week because I am having trouble with the vendor, the anodizing and the crosshairs are the only things I contracted out and I have the 3rd guy working on the crosshairs now, thanks for your patience and I hope everybody enjoys the kits! (which it looks like you are!!) awesome work already and I can't wait to see more!

so is this the best place to start posting mods and tutorials?
I know some have been asking for some guide to assembly so here is a barrel tutorial that is fairly simple.
I lucked into an MGC so I am redoing the frame mods and alterations I did on my Denix which will become a stunt for the MGC :lol.
Here is a barrel fitting tutorial. It is demonstrated on the slip Easy Fit barrel but can be used for the FIT barrel as well. You just have to do more filing to create a post.
1) measure from the top about 9mm (should end up about 8.5mm but leave extra for fine adjustment later) You can use a good ruler, calipers etc. not a wooden school ruler!. Mark that spot.
2) Use tape (masking is great) and wrap it around the receiver keeping the tape perpendicular to the receiver. You can use the rulers square edge to be sure the tape is 90 degrees to the straight flat bevels.
2a) wrap several layers of tape to create an edge to file against.
3) File down slowly to start to create an lip, removing material on the exposed Mauser barrel as shown.
4) For the slip fit you need only remove material from the bottom area where the rails extend ... mostly.
5-6-7) Test fit the barrel over the mauser and see where the inside of the bull barrel scratches the Mauser. Remove a little material in those areas and test fit again.
8) Note the areas that the material was removed.
9-10) Test it and adjust as needed until you have the fit you like.

Thanks Carson, The slip fit barrel fits so well there is very little fitting needed!
In addition, For the FIT barrel, simply continue filing around and around to make a post (on the DENIX) until you get post. You can always drill out the inside of the bull barrel for a bigger diameter post so you don't have to file as much. Just wrap tape around the barrel so you don't scratch it up if you clamp it in a vise and use wood blocks to clamp.

The bluing at first looks like a dull gray-blue. You really have to work with it to get a good result. I got the steel sleeve today. You are right, it sits out too far without filing on an MGC. Here is my replacement trigger after refinishing with BC. Of course, the pitting looks way worse here than in person.

just curious about grips.
How much interest would there be in a set of wood replacement grips for the MGC? Not Mauser grips that you would have to reduce the metal on the MGC, but a straight replacement.
There could also be the Mauser sized version as well.
use the existing hardware or get the replacement screw kit.
I was asking Dave if he could/would do grips and he said he would if there was enough interest

YES! I'd be down for MGC and Real. I have 1 and a half MGCs (half still in transit) and plan on doing a live fire version, so I'd definitely want a mauser set, as the real mauser I would buy would more than likely have pretty iffy condition grips.

I might be interested in a set sized for a real mauser if they are more affordable than the available grips out there. I have a set now for my MGC, but still have a Denix that has been altered to accept real Mauser grips. Need to do something with that.
