ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion - Three ANH Greeblies Found

Of course. My bad. But the first bit.. it’s “GW NO”. I’ve seen replicas that’s have that wrong.
Field Marshall’s was intentionally different. CV are his initials (Chris Vandenburghe) and 2020 was the year he made them.

I’ve been told GW is for Gewehr (gun). The scopes were assigned to the gewehr they were on.

What does Todd's scope say on that side? I just recently ordered a scope from him (since it's widely viewed as the best replica due to its magnification & crosshairs), and am looking forward to upgrading my Field Marshal project piece.

Oh, I see. I could have sworn that he had added something unto that side a little while ago, though maybe I'm remembering wrong. If it really is blank then maybe I could find someone to custom engrave it.

All the ones I’ve found through google search say GW so far but obviously that’s a limited pool.. maybe he just subbed in his initials

EDIT: ..and he did. Cool.

Last time I bring up these bull barrel bevels, I hope! I took one more shot at filing them... I think I might have gone a touch too deep, but I like their dramatic bevel!

Made sure to also add the small side bevels that most folks miss!

They might be just a smidge deeper than the hero prop's, though they're not as deep as the Naked Runner's bull barrel bevels. I rather like the way they turned out!

I like it too - they're not as steep if you're worried, I think they look great!

I have a Todd scope that I "restored" (it was a mess when I picked it up) and it doesn't have the fancy script

My guess would be abbreviations like blank waffen number 2602.
OdiWan72 can you help with what German words may logically be abbreviated here?
I think this was looked into a few years ago as I recall.

Sorry for the late reply...just read this

The engravings ocasionally found on these scopes “GW. No. xxxx” are the production number of the rifle it belonged to (GW= Gewehr)

On these Hensoldt scopes are the numbers on the dial not engraved?

Why wouldn’t those numbers show up on the PS scope? Did they simply wear off.. You can see them in this old black and white pic but not in this new photo? Not even a trace.. ?

It varies; I've seen Hensoldts where the numbers are just painted unto the scope knob before.

They are there... bad lighting...

also note the position of the knob stop pin... in same position as the post production pics... must have been stuck there.
