ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion - Three ANH Greeblies Found

Laughable that they're trying to pass that off as the original. No documentation of provenance, but here's a random picture to prove it".

That's what I thought as well; looking again the upper receiver doesn't seem to have the "lump" as you say. The Scope does look like the same one though, so I'm wondering if that could be from the actual Hero prop. But either way all of the rest looks wrong - they do say the serial numbers match, though I couldn't ever get a view of them so for all I know that could just be faked for tv. I was also wondering if the scope mount could possibly have been original if the upper dovetail broke and was machined off at some point, but the more I look at it the less the dimensions seem to match (the bars seem to be much too thick).
But yes, sadly it seems like this is not the actual Hero prop after all - the moment I saw it I immediately thought, "That looks wrong!", funny enough, though if it was the real deal then I don't think a mil would be out of the ballpark for an asking price. Maybe the sellers should have joined the RPF so they'd know how to make a more convincing replica instead of something so off like this XD

EDIT: Ah, I didn't realize it had it's own thread; my bad. Thanks Halliwax!

No no worries man, I just figured this thread is full of so much great information. I didn’t know if they wanted to discuss the fake in here

Just thought I'd post a pic of my first DL-44, since reading all pages of this thread is what made me want to do one.
That, and generally wanting one since about 1982.

Also, not quite the most relevant to this topic specifically (though it does have to do with an ANH DL-44), but I just got in something a bit cool today. It's not the right model, but I managed to find and purchase a genuine Compac Super scope in pretty nice condition. It's the wrong specific power (it has a large front bell element), but it's still pretty snazzy to have one (it's the Super 3x-8x-35). I'll take a picture later on :)

Thanks! And yeah, this is my first Compac scope that I've owned - I very nearly managed to buy a much more accurate model a few years back (it was fairly beat up), but funny enough I ended up being outbid at the last second by the very guy here I had just sold a vintage M9 Flash Hider to - he was making his Greedo Killer! Even funnier, he had apparently only bid on accident, but either way I more or less gave up on making a Greedo Killer after that (though I may try in the future now that replica parts are much easier to come by).

As for this scope, I have a feeling it may be too large - I don't know the dimensions of the "accurate" 2 & 1/2 power Compac scope, but this one has a much wider dimension than a Hensoldt 3x scope and is also longer. So while cool, it may not be "usable".

Bad picture time:

Oh and in the meanwhile I just saw this today. Apparently somebody added colour to one of the images Scottjua unveiled some time back! if I hadn't already seen the B&W version I'd almost think this was the original XD

Also spent a little time doing something I haven't seen other folks do (though in general, mods on this particular DL-44 are scarce as-is).

For some reason, the Master Replicas' Elite Edition has a few oddities on its design - and one of them is its trigger. I don't know why, but it's quite different to a standard C96's. So I did my best to file it into shape using as much reference as I could.
