Angelica Teach:The woman, the myth, the COSTUME thread

My seamistress as well so that will be four! Aelynn? FIVE?

I have spent the last hour cropping, blowing up, sharpening, and editing images of the hat and I am convinced the most cheapest, inexpensive, and simplest hat out there is the best!!!

I give you the Amazon.com exclusive: musketeer hat

Even look at that buckle! Look familiar?

It can easily be modded in the future when better pics emerge but for a close enough I think I am going to get it!!!!

This is about as exciting as when I discovered Jack's Ana Maria belt buckle on a Santa Claus belt sold in the UK!!

THANKS for the hat info CJS! I was wondering when you'd bring it over from KTTC! lol

RE: the fabric...

How about Shylaah?
Hey girl, you out there??

Let me get in touch with a friend to see if he still wants fabric for his wife.

I guess it takes about week for printing. I wonder how fabric much per waistcoat? and what TYPE OF FABRIC ARE WE GOING WITH??

Does anyone want to wait another week or so to see if any SA fabric is found and/or becomes available or clearer fabric images are found? I just bought some school clothes for my daughter so I'm kinda tapped out until the 26th, so I'll have to wait either way. :(

I may be in on the fabric too! I'd like to wait a bit for some posters or more hi res images to get out there though, if we're going to be laying out the bucks for custom printed, I'd like it to be DEAD ON....a bit of a perfectionist, I know.

CJS, I was looking at that hat too! :D The best part about it is that it's only $10 LOL I do plan on putting wire in the brim and soaking it to soften the felt and reshaping it a bit...but it's an extremely good find for a starting point methinks.

I've been trey busy all the end of last week and the weekend, then came Monday......

I found a really cute little jacket that I want to hack into a vest and maybe use......it's has -esque of Jack's frock, Angelica's waistcoat, and maybe I can put some button hole trim on it and -esque it to the mermaid vest --a triple combo something or other???
Premier%20mermaids.jpg

I ordered and have a yard of that red fabric that you found Sparrowed that's the red like Jack's new blue vest......thinking of using it to maybe line the vest?
Anyway the jacket I found is navy blue, so I could even do what UM suggested, cut out some paisleys and iron 'em on.......
And need to get some pics and get 'em posted of what I do have......
Soooooo..........
Let me catch my breath and catch up on what's going on here and the fabric you're talking about ordering....

Shylaah

About a yard of fabric, should do it. If the material is 45 inches wide (average widith), two panels could fit across, so then it just a matter of how long you want the vest.

I am happy to wait for the fabric, if you prefer to delay until clearer imagines are avaliable. My next project will be the coat (the vest will be the last item) once I receive the Wonka pattern. I have the fabric and the button trims (this picture is with a flash, fabric is darker).

I am still aiming for a leather hat. The local hat company I am going through , sells a very nice leather pirates hat on ebay, which I purchased a couple of years ago. While it was not screen accurate, the hat caused enough attention at Disneyland, that a certain Captain who shall remain nameless (bloody pirate) followed "me" around New Orleans Square, before running off with it.

That's a super cute jacket Shylaah. I know Top Notch makes a Jackie jacket similar to that.
bPearl! Oh that looks fantastic!! I wish I was making mine now, but I already have my deposit in.
YES!! Lets wait for clearer images...I was trying to enlarge the paisely flower, and unless it's because of the pixelation, it looks like something is running thru the each paisley on a diagonal to the next one?

Hey look! Someone took a photo of my walk in closet!

If you scroll down there are a couple pics of some costumes for OST...Unfortunately(!!) none are Angelica's. :(

So I took Shylaah's excellent find and did a little Gimping (Photoshop equivalent that is free) and added the trim to the corset.

What do you guys think?

I didn't bother with adding it to seams on the edge because I am not too sure if it is inserted into the seam or if it is just sitting on top.

So the problems are as follows:

1. Will this particular trim be large enough to look like the screen used version?
2. How the heck to you attach the trim to the corset? The clasps and the steel boning gets in the way. You really can't use Heat N Bond. Leather glue?

As I said, nice work UM, I mean CJS!
...Changing the subject a bit...LOOOK!! LOOOK at the paisley image CJS posted! I knew it!! The paisley has something running thru it!!

Is it stitching, or print? :confused

AND I hope I'm seeing things, but in this image ^ does the corset appear to have a black on black pattern?

How come stuff is always common as dirt until you go looking specifically for it?? I know I've seen wide gimp like is on that corset.....with the straight lines behind the big loops instead of those little loops.......

Looks good UM....I think -- if nothing else is ever found, but I'm sure the right one will be sooner or later.....I think that one is wide enough.....
What ya need to do to make it like Angelica's and to make it look wider than it does on your PS sample is lay the two pieces out mirror image so that the big loop is on the outside of each piece across the two, then then inside.....

Sparrowed, that pic isn't MY vest/jacket, that's the mermaid from the ride.....sorry for the confusion......

I had been thinking that was some kind of leaf pattern inside the 'belly' of the paisley, but that bigger pic, it sorta does look like something stitched on there???

Yeah, I know its a pic of the mermaids plaque from the ride. I recently posted the same mermaid pic over at KTTC. ;)

Shylaah
Yeah! I think its a stitching over the paisley flower leaf thingy.

Thanks for the giant blurred out pic CJS!
I was trying to blow up the image on my photoshop too, and I got the same result!! :lol

All of the gimp I've found is less than 1 inch thick...I'd say hers is at LEAST 1 inch wide...the stuff Shylaah found is very close though! Where's that link to it? What's the width? ( just worked 16 hours...too tired to look )

And the paisley does have a 3 petal flower type thing in it...at least that's how I saw it. Not that it helps the search any...trust me, I tried 'petal paisley' and 'floral paisley' and 'flower paisley' too. LOL argh!!!!....and not in a piratey way!

I just can't be 100% sure on the colour of the boots and material of the corset until some actual posters/shoot photos come out...pretty sure they're both black leather but I just can't afford to buy either and have it turn out something else. *sigh* WHEREEEE are the photos!?

Okay, for printed fabric:

Sparrowed
JR
bPearl
CJS

Who's the 5th person?

AeLynn00??

Anybody else?

Who are we going with? Any suggestions?

I posted the link to one above (fabricdesignsondemand) I think they are charging 30+ per yard NO minimum.

Then there is a super expensive place...
Sure we actually print on linen. However we can't necessarily print a "gold finish" only the approximate color of gold which would be more of an orange yellow. Our minimums are 3 yrds and the cost is $85 per yard for printing and fabric together with a turnaround time of 7-10 business days. If you have any questions please contact me directly.
Best Regards,
I think I was asking about Jack vest, but I'm not sure. Anyways it's very expensive...But they can print on anything.

First2Print: Samples of our Digital Textile Printing Client Projects

How many yards each?

About 1.5??

Fabric TYPE??

I think we should discuss this so when we are ready to order we can just get it done.

EDIT: I'm off to do some errands later, but I will stop at this fabric store:
http://www.stonemountainfabric.com/
They carry some unique stuff, so I'll rummage around and see what I can find re: trim, and paisley print. WISH ME LUCK!! :)

Here's the link,
METALLIC GOLD LOOP AND SCALLOP FLAT TRIM By The Yard at Dove Originals Trims | Cording, Lace Trim, Fabric Fringe
agree hers is at least an inch wide, so I'm afraid the stuff I found is not wide enough, only 5/8th inch....
to which I will echo your " argh!!!!....and not in a piratey way!"

Shylaah

I showed the lady at Stone Mountain a pic of the gimp. She told me that the loops appear to be for buttons. I did find one, VERY similar, but it was about 1/2 inch wide at the most and in white. The same lady at Stone Mountain told me about a corset store that has all types of trim. I'll try to check it out possibly tomorrow, with school starting soon for my daughter I don't have much time for searching on foot. But I'll see what I can do.
NO luck on fabric. Their paisley collection consisted of about 10 bolts of cotton. Nothing even reasonable close :(

I got ambitious and dug some items out of my closet and threw this together. By no means is it SA, but I wanted to show you:
Brown linen frock coat, brown linen waist coat, chemise, corset, hat.
http://i38.tinypic.com/346uys5.jpg
http://i37.tinypic.com/dqjfuu.jpg
Hat: I took a black tricorn, and took out the stitching and tried to roll the edges. I pinned them but the brim is too big. The crown looked good, but you can't really tell with the shadow, I pushed it the top and molded it so it wasn't round. I don't know HOW you'd make it stay that way ...?
http://i33.tinypic.com/id7xc7.jpg
The black leather baldric will work, just need the buckles, along with a hat band, and waist belt. As I said it's not SA, but I may fool around with it ...I'm not sure tho.
Sorry, I couldn't put pants on the mannequin :lol

I'm sure the pirates and Captain Jack's may prefer the "breechless" version of Angelica.

Anyone get some good leads on drop front breeches that are more cut for the ladies? My wifey's breeches are good but they have the saggy butt syndrome that specific type of design. Very unflattering so I figure since most of the figure will be covered up by the waistcoat might as well get something with a little bit better fit.

Still awaiting the arrival of corset, gold trim, and hat. In a holding pattern right now. Although I am severly modding a pewter cross that I found. I also know I have some very long pheasant feathers stashed away somewhere from my Cannibal Jack days!
