Ancient Elder Bio ~ Bio Sculpt, Mold and Cast project.

Hey Uratz, the mouth armor/plate on the right and left mask look kinda warped. The middle one looks fine. Is it the angle of the bio's or am I just imagining it?

Dude they are freakin awesome, when i first saw this thread i didnt know what you would come up with having not seen any of yr work before, i just wanna say they are beautiful bios dude, not warped in my eyes and even if they were im sure most of us like bios that lok kida organic not ones that are completely symetrical.........anyway forget that nonsense. I just wanted to say wow......your work is fantastic and the bios are damn fine. Love the paint job too.....keep rocking, i look forward to watching yr next projects dude.

The bio sculpt have minor asymetericalness all over the place, but not warped.
I tried to make everything the same proportions using a caliper. Anyway its one of those hand made imperfections that makes it unique haha.
Thanks for the kind comments. You can check out my next project on the Bonehunter link below.

Hey there newbies. This is a good question for those of you who don't have patience and knowledge of how hard it is to make something professional

If you go thru page by page of this thread you will realize that this is the only way to make something that looks like the real thing- at least based on your sculpting abilities. Clay can only be used to make a MASTER copy to be molded. The Final product will be casted from the mold that recorded your sculpted clay. Casting material can be epoxy resin or another type of plastic resin mixed with fiberglass. IF you do it according to this huntorial the cost would be more than buying one mask.

A:B epoxy PUTTY is something that gets hard after you mix the 2 parts together. Its possible that you can use A LOT $$$ of this to make a 1 off master copy and not need to mold it but it will be challenging to work with this since it will get hard eventually - in 6 hours. SO you need to work fast and furious. You can sculpt this over an armature made of plaster bandages with sarap wrap covered so the hardened putty can be removed easier.

Anyway its having me to repeat detail steps of this huntorial - so its best you read thru this thread and like my mom said "Use your brain!"
There are no easier way to do this since we're not God and can't snap our fingers and whoalla! So learn patience and research. Good luck!

Wow. I'm New to the forum and this is the first topic i read. Great job!

Wow, you must be the first noobie to actually use the Search function cuz this topic is old.
Anyway you should introduce yourself to the Lair in the General Discussion area and let people know your interests (duh!)

Keep on keeping on mate.

These 2 are sold. My best pieces and I miss them. 1 in Guangzhou and 1 in Baldwin NY.

Hey Hunters

I'll be posting pics along the way of sculpting my first BIo - Ancient Elder. I know there are some good ones out there already made by Biohunter. I'm pretty much doing this as an excercise to learn about sculpting, mold and casting a bio. I've got all the videos of John Brown's sculpture series (Gnomon Workshop) and learning as I go along. Here are some pics of the undermask I'll be sculpting on. I'm planning to make Celtic, Ancient Elder, and Gort sculpts in the near future depending on how much time, energy and resources I can muster up. Would appreciate any tips/ comments.

Undermask version 4 (will post the others later)
Since I want to sculpt on a plaster underform that I can remove and cast seperate I made an armature for the plasterform from metal wires of 2 different thickness and a lot of masking & electrical tape.

Here is the plaster bandage on the armature. This way I can make different plasterforms to sculpt on for different masks.

So this is yours of many other methods that u use? could u teach or tell me how i can make a bio mask EASILY. Im only 16 and never made one before so ill need some info on how to do it.

Thanks.
