AMT Slave One WIP

Thank you TanneRain and Katsu-san! I'm glad to see that the cold weather is not stopping you from your great build Katsu-san. It was quite cold here for a few weeks. I live in the Northern part of Los Angeles County and it got down to 14 degrees. I know for some of you it gets a lot colder than that but I'm sure not used to it.

I did a dark wash to bring out the lines and painted the two triangular spots a darker gray. I didn't have time to get to the weathering tonight.

Looking good!:thumbsup

I vaguley remember when I saw the tipping work of slave one on the other site. The guy used the liquid mask.
He sprayed the base color first and then tipping with the liquid mask.
Then sprayed the top color. Finally peel off the liquid mask.
That was impressive too.

Thank you Katsu-san. I did use a liquid mask for most of the chipping effects. I ended up having to go back and repaint most of the pink areas because at first it came out too bright. Next I plan on doing a combination of light white misting or dry brushing to create a more faded paint effect and then some dark weathering to make the thing look good and dirty.

Awesome job so far!

I will be keeping my eye on your progress as I have that same model that I will be building some day over the rainbow :)

Thank you guys!

Time for more photos. Here's what I have so far with some weathering using paint and pastels.

Thank you kcghostbuster, Katsu-san, mundbuster and Formerly O.B. I've been working on the "wings". Just letting the paint dry completely before weathering.

Your weathering looks fantastic, for me pastels are the best form of weathering, I use them on practically everything I paint, the best thing is if you think you've gone too heavy with it you can just dab a drop of water on with a small paint brush and it all spreads out evenly, keep up the great work!

Really want to pickup a Fine Molds and goto town in between Helmet paintjobs for people this is inspiring...MORE please

Dude... this is really looking awesome. You're doing a great job bringing out the detail on this old AMT kit (I've got one in my closet I mean to work on). One thing that I noticed thou. The lower ramp... doesn't it have some panel lines or something for better grip while walking up it? Don't know if you noticed that or not. Can't wait to see this lit and complete!

Thank you JBReplicas, Fett 4 Real and LrdSatyr8!

I just looked through all pictures I have and you're right! I found a couple of shots that do show some lines that looks similar to the upper portion of the ramp. I'll have to fix that. Thank you for pointing that out.

Here's what I have done so far.
