Amazing Spiderman Suit using TaylorMcManus' print (Pic Heavy) (Suit Complete!)

Re: Amazing Spiderman Suit using TaylorMcManus' print (Pic Heavy)

Thanks for the tip! I have been watching your build. It's very impressive! I had that thought with the lenses but my sculpting skills are not so hot. I bought a product called InstaMorph. They are basically plastic pellets that can be melted down, shaped, and then they harden when the cool. Going to make a template of the lenses using clay and fill it with the InstaMorph. Hopefully it works! I'm trying it this weekend.

I have an engraving machine that I was planning on using to make my lenses, but then ended up purchasing Joelai's lenses instead to save some time, since his looked so nice. I can use it to cut the lenses out of acrylic or create a mold. If you guys want to send me a file with the shape of the lenses and size, I dont mind trying it out. I have 1/16" acrylic that is pretty flexible that should work nice. Let me know what you guys think.

Sorry for the double post, but since my last post I decided to go ahead and try to make the lenses using my engraver and they came out pretty good. Just need to work on the size. I posted some pics on my thread if you want to check it out. Let me know what you guys think.

Have you tried that with joelai009's lenses?

You can't heat them up. You will destroy the gold honeycomb by doing that. You may add some padding to cover the whole forehead. Or you can get a kids mask and trim it to fit.

Wow, genius idea, that will solve most of people's problems of having the perfect curvature of joelai lenses to their faces. Thanks so much for sharing :thumbsup

I know this is going back a little bit but i was wondering if one of those small keychain led picture frames might work as the display for your web shooter. Not sure what the size comparison is with the nano though

I was thinking of those but they are actually a bit thicker than the Nano and most of them don't do video. I set the web shooter side of the project aside for now to focus on getting the suit done by this Saturday. I plan to revisit the Nano concept for Version 2!

Great job with the lenses! I'm gonna have to get some of that instamorph stuff. I have so many sculpy molds of different things I've made. Mostly Jack Sparrow wig trinkets. I've always just just used more sculpy in the molds, but if I could use this stuff to make more solid/less fragile pieces that would be awesome!
Thanks for finding it! :D

Finally done!! It really came down to the wire. I still had a section to puff paint with 2 hours before the party. Puff paint has taken a good 3 hours per coat (black and red) to dry. So I tried to quicken the prosses with a hair dryer on a low setting. It worked! Dried in 20 min per coat with no difference between that and the air dried version. I wish I would have know this the whole time! Here are some pics of the completed suit.

Question for all of you webheads out there. What is the optimal angle for the Spidey lenses? I applied them one at a time and from the side they look great, but from straight on they look a little to angled. It could just be my OCD. :) Any suggestions would be great as I have another mask to put lenses on.

No feet on the table lol Looks really really good! Nice Job :) It looks like the right lense is a little high. From the pics you have up it's hard to tell for the question you asked about the lenses. Take a front view shot and that'll help me tell better

Awesome man! Looks very cool!
Now I want to try that hair dryer technique... Eh... Still, it scares me a bit. May test it out on another fabric first.

Looking nice! I too think the lenses are too angled. It also seems the right lense is higher than the left. All in all looks great man!
