It looks great. I was wondering how long did it take you to puff paint the red part?

Hey Everyone!

It seems like it has been forever! My print has been at the seamstress for the last three weeks. I have been in constant communication with her via email. She had some problems putting some things together, but was able to figure them out in the end. All in all it was a difficult piece to put together for someone with 20 years of experience.

I went in today for my second and final fitting. She needed to pin the sides of the mask and the boot to figure out how they go together. Other than that the suit was complete!

Now a couple things have learned from putting the suit on for the first time. It is defiantly a 2 person job. The is no way for one person to zip up the suit with the U invisible zipper. Also, I will pretty much be naked under the thing. I had on an undershirt and some Underarmor boxer briefs on. The undershirt bunched up and caused the stomach to wrinkle. It was so difficult to put on I didn't bother to take the suit off again to take off the undershirt. I'll take more pics once I get it home complete. It should be a week or so.

Also when I was putting it on some seems popped in some areas. She will reinforce them and assured me it wont be a problem. She left them a little loose incase she had to make any adjustments.

Overall I am incredibly happy with the print and the work of the seamstress. She really saved me. There would be no way I would have been able to put this together myself.

Next two things on my agenda:
1. Extreme diet to lose the last couple of pounds in my lower stomach.
2. Puff Paint, Puff Paint, Puff Paint.

Finally a pic!

The U shape zipper is not impossible for someone in the suit to do by themselves, but it is tricky to say the least... especially if the suit is really, really a tight fit. I've had to replace the zippers 3-4 times in a 5 year span with my Raimi suit.... the 90 degree turn is a tough thing to do to a zipper!

You definitely can't wear a shirt underneath these costumes. I think it's best to get a full body spandex undersuit if you're going to wear anything underneath... I've heard that the suit goes on much easier and it also keeps the sweat from soaking into the suit better.

Would you be able to tell us how much you had to pay your seamstress for all the hours spent on working on your suit?

Guys, be patient.... there are still good seamstresses out there who have experience with the way the pattern of the Raimi suits go together (which Taylor, sonjou, etc., are using). Keep looking around and putting out feelers here on RPF until you find one!

Suit looks incredible dude. Looks more accurate without puff paint in my opinion. Kudos to your seamstress :thumbsup

This is not a sales thread. All buying and selling takes place in the Junkyard forum.

Re: Amazing Spiderman Suit using TaylorMcManus' print (Pic Heavy)

Got the suit back from the seamstress on Friday. I have been a puff painting manic. I have the front finished now I'm moving on to the mask. There are quite a few seams in the Taylor print where the webbing does not line up. I'm using the puff painting as a opportunity to cover up the mismatches. The mask will be a challenge in that department.

The first party of the season is the 20th! So I will have to have it complete by then. I will try to post daily updates of my progress.

On another note, I purchased one of DamnGoodPaul's masks and puff painted it while I was waiting for my suit to be sewn. I love the darker color but it is not as thick as the Taylor print. Here is a pic of it with a set of lenses from joalai009. Now if I can figure out how to sew it together myself. :/

Nice job on the front area! Will you puff paint the blue area as well?
