Well he could say he's the son of JPL who worked in the Desilu Prop Shop building phasers from the show and his dad gave it to him and he decided to keep it in a secure place to preserve the iconic sci-fi prop.......
A likely story.

I tend to agree because by going with something like this it would be very hard to prove his father isn't JPL & that said father didn't work for the studio prop shop.A likely story.

It's almost believable lol
Right, it's when folks tried to do "Let's trick the fans" they had two options:If it's believable enough for the idle rich, then that's all that matters. Score!
Right, it's when folks tried to do "Let's trick the fans" they had two options:
A.) I relatively simple story that might drop a name or two a select few fans know.
OR
B.) Use a rehash of "someone on the show gave this to an actor after the show ended" or "Gene Roddenberry gave this to a dedicated fan who helped save Star Trek" type non-sense...
IT seems with almost every fake/forgery they almost always go with option "B." and with JPL and Co. they basically treated the fans and members of the prop community as if they were total idiots and that's what ended up being their down fall...
As in being caught in an obvious lie...... I think they planned out that sale a bit too well as they really manipulated fans of Uhura to draw in the casual fans & collectors"Downfall"', as in, "successfully selling a forgery for $250K, and now continuing to sell even more forgeries"?
Sorry to show my ignorance, but who is the JPL who keeps being referenced?
I think, and it's safe to say, that another of those "Screen-used TOS phaser" cannot appear for another auction."Downfall"', as in, "successfully selling a forgery for $250K, and now continuing to sell even more forgeries"?
Actually no, because they are known not to be the actual TOS props. For example in the regards to the ENT episode they ended up using AA/DST phasers (you can see screw holes on the sides in the screen caps)Could the quality of props here, be passed off as from T&T from DS9, ofr IAND from ENT?
Actually there's a phaser going up for auction pretty quickly (It's most likely a fake or one used in a fan film)I think, and it's safe to say, that another of those "Screen-used TOS phaser" cannot appear for another auction.
The fraudsters will have to copy known props and try to pass them for real ones.![]()
I did not notice the holes watching on then SD tv. I will have to find the appropriate screncaps at Trekcore.Actually no, because they are known not to be the actual TOS props. You can see the screw holes but you can tell it's a DST based on the P1:I did not notice the holes watching on then SD tv. I will have to find the appropriate screncaps at Trekcore.
Well it's not just any DST its "screen used" so they hyped it up and the buy now has a screen used TOS phaser....... made in 2004......I believe that AA phaser sold at auction for a ridiculous amount, simply because it was filmed. It would be easy enough to just go and buy an AA toy, instead.
