Aliens floor tile ???

Yeah, my display racks were loosely based on the old ICON's racks from back in the day. Honestly, I don't even remember how those all went together, but I'm pretty sure something similar could be done for these. The only problem is that my old PR Racks were made form steel and they were VERY heavy. For the pallet, you are looking at something at least twice as large and lord only knows how much deeper. It would weigh a ton. Aluminum may be another option, but I'm not sure about final durability. No matter what it would all need to be fabricated and welded. That's going to cost big $$$$.

Good lord... How many versions of these things are there? I'm trying to rough out some build concepts and it really looks like no two are alike :)

Nope, sorry, not for sale :)

Though I've just been up and measured it. Mine works out at 1190 x 980mm.

Peter Lamont did say that a lot of them were scrap from the factory. Mis-molds, bad batches and such like, which might account for some of the variations?

Thanks for measuring it :) That could explain it, would also mean they probably got them much cheaper :p

It's been reported that they are building a Millennium Falcon set for the new Star Wars movie, does this mean they will re-use this floor tile? Hmm...:confused

Hey Prop Panel; you are one lucky guy! :) and the reference shots you have built up from the films etc. are awesome!

I will be coming back to this prop and plan to re-create a few of the environments it was used in from the various movies, so great to see your collection :)

Many thanks,

Wiz.

Keep forgetting to post these.

Successfully prints out in 6th and 8th scale.
Complete unit in 6th scale takes almost 20 hours to print.

I have an injection molder in china that owes me a favor, might do a partial unit in 6th scale with a positionable insert for action figures.

Very nice work indeed! :)

If you're open for suggestions then I think you should remove some details like these:

Since those aren't in the image above, nor in most of the ones seen in Aliens ;)

and I would very much be interested in a 6th scale version :D I have Alclad paint I would love to paint it with.

I've counted 4 different versions.

My version is based on this one:

The sixth scale will have some bottom details missing for tooling simplicity.

Sorry fellas, I have been gone a while , and I hope after starting this thread , someone will figure out how this will become reality...I know some of you are art specialists and CAD artists, I talked with several of you in the past , on the most beneficial way to construct these , a year ago I talked about possibly figuring a way to get these out of hollowed aluminum, the question I have is now that, I am back , is the 3D printing going to be sturdy enough to use as a mount for an actual Pulse rifle , depending on some types of materials that can be used .....????? I would like to get a realistic aluminum build , but wondering , if anyone did attempt to go that route with raw aluminum square tubing, is it possible to get those pieces to join and overlap the other section , and is anyone willing to make those parts ???

Oh that is beautiful work ...wow....1/6 scale , I wonder what 4 of those would cost for 1/6 scale diaroma ??? I am so impressed by your work....congrats sir on a awesome display floor tile.....woohoo !!!
