Aliens floor tile ???

You should try scouring derelict warehouses or older business warehouse with a truck docking bay or a large property out the back with beater cars and things like that. You'd most definitely find one I reckon. There'd definitely be a self made scrap heap with one in it. Those pallets become brittle after a few years in the sun though. My old workplace hoarded hundreds of pallets and engines 'just in case it was needed'.

Aliens was shot at Pinewood, not Elstree. :confused

Exactly. I asked about that and this is the answer I got:
"The stock at Elstree was from a private collection, it wasn't a set clearance."

The impression I have gotten over the years is that folks at Elstree had their hands in buying/collecting props from various films that weren't actually filmed there. Stands to reason that the prop scene in the UK is a little more tight-knit and that things change hands, but that's just me speculating.

If this thing were in fact a fake, someone went through a lot of effort to make it appear authentic, for not much money. (They usually go for around 100 bucks.)

Yeah, I've seen that diagram elsewhere (on the alienlegacy forum I think). Number 69025T12 seems to match up, but that doesn't prove nor disprove authenticity unless someone can verify with certainty that this type of mat didn't exist in 1985. The one I have has obviously been used for something. It's got grime and dirt (that smells) on top of the silver paint. So if someone at Elstree went to the trouble of getting mats from the US, then painting and authentically griming them up, just to sell a few at 100 bucks a pop, they must really have been desperate for money. I'm fully open to the fact that they may not be for real. (MPW does however apparently guarantee authenticity "for life" whatever that is worth.)

I wish there was castings could get of LV-426 floor......I just want a 3ft X 3ft section...and I would be so entirely happy...for the rest of my life

I spy a well known pallet at SDCC:

One of these days , someone will 3D print and make resin copies, or a fiberglass version , of a floor tile like this , to hang pulse rifles....sooooo hoping and want this to happen very much

Our beloved pallets are all over the place (walls and floors) in the truly awful 1979 Doctor Who "The Horns of Nimon".

i have been following this thread for years waiting for a breakthrough and someone to either find a source or locate a massive supply! no luck but one thing i did note was the initial page shows a similar style pallet which had perpendicular ridges, after looking at some of the aliens footage I believe the actual pallet style was used in addition to the ones everyone is looking for...

This is the pallet everyone wants.... lets call it type 1

palletabacksmall.jpg
and this is the pallet that was suggested ages ago in this thread to be similar... lets call this type 2
th_80720_p2g850_a1_122_217lo.jpg

now if you look at these images... you can clearly see the Main pallet type 1 has 2 units end to end to make a corridor section and is edged by long drainage pipes (French drain type) however the corridors that lead off from the main corridor are also edged in the French drain type but you can see the type 2 pallet in use for all side corridors in both these pics

These type 2 pallets are still available, I know the person who located them said they were from australia however I've sourced a supplier in the UK (which may or may not be useful to most people on here?) either way they are £25 each with a minimum order of 20 units. I am planning to theme my home cinema out in the basement so will eventually be ordering a fair few although the basement needs loads of work before then.

Im still on the lookout for the originals as there are lots of places selling off recycled ones just stacked high, I'm sure I've glimpsed a few here and there in the pictures but lack the time to go and check at the moment. The best match I've seen beyond an orriginal was the one from Dainippon Ink and Chemicals

a guy called noble on (http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?t=14263&p=234503) found the type 2 above but then found this one in his work warehouse which was closer to the original but made in japan

That price is not that bad :) :thumbsup

I think £25 is really good and I'll be happy enough with these if I no one ever tracks down the "type 1" however I'm not giving up yet! I'll be aiming to order mine sometime next year when the basement is ready and i'll be ordering over the minimum requirement so could arrange a group buy then but thats a way off, if you want to organise it sooner here is a link to the supplier i found...

I posted links to the supplier I found for the "type 2" pallet but that post is waiting for a moderator (I guess because of the hyperlink) I've been doing some other searching and found an interesting alternative... its a manufacturer called "thruflow" they do decking for marina's and lofts and walkways... Available in Aus and USA from what I've seen but limited in the UK

which in turn led me to locate this stuff... called Attic DEK and seemingly available more or less everywhere

I know both are not the Aliens / Starwars pallet but they do seem to provide a certain future flooring feeling...

more searching led me to look into plastic flooring which brought me to these...

floor_COB-800x600.jpgCapture.JPG
basically its agricultural flooring, available in metal or plastic and many variations on designs and colour the two pictured above are from different sources one in China and the other in Germany I believe and are designed for Swine

These images are products from a german company and the panels available in their range recomended from goats to pregnant pigs etc...
