On Friday last week, the very same day that I received my copy of
Sci-Fi & Fantasy Modeller Vol. 15, my first shipment of the Dallas hard parts arrived from Richie. This included the chest and shoulder assembly, gloves, and the front box (but not yet the belt on which the box mounts).
I had previously taken delivery of the undersuit from Danita and the helmet and boots from Steve.
Still coming from Richie are the backpack, belt, holster, and wrist compads. Shawn is working on my Rexim right now. :love
I actually hadn't planned on posting photos before the suit and display are complete... but someone asked me nicely, and I don't like to say no to buddies from the board! :angel
Here are a few snapshots of what's coming together in my display room. Most were taken with a flash. Although the shots are quick and dirty, they can't disguise the spectacular detail work that Richie, Steve, and Danita have done on this.
This last sequence shows the undersuit on the mannequin, then the addition of the neck, chest, and shoulder assembly, and finally the addition of the helmet and gloves. Note too, in the last shot, the larger base I fashioned for the mannequin. With the helmet on, the display became top-heavy and threatened to overwhelm the stand that came with the mannequin. The larger surface area and weight of the custom stand will prevent this.
My gratitude once again to Richie, Steve, Danita, and everyone else who contributed to this project. The ALIEN Environmental Suit has been a holy grail of mine since I first saw the film in 1979. I never thought I'd actually see one, though, much less have one to display in my collection. Y'all have made a 30-year dream of mine come true!
