Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

I've got this one Jason Eaton did some years ago. :D

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

Is that a build of Morgan13's Rexim Favor cast? I so want one of those. When watching the movie recently to check out the boots I noticed for the first time Kane had it drawn out of the holster as the face hugger jumped on him.

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

The shot of John Hurt drawing the blaster was one of the bits that Ridley put back in, for the re-release Director's Cut. In the original version you never see the blasters except in the holsters, or on the table in the break room.

In this one, note also the boots.

As to whose casting it is, I don't know. Only know that Jason built it up.

You amaze me! If ever Im on a Sci-Fi debate team I want to be on your team!

Fred.

Waiting to hear back on the blasters cost and availability but yes we will be doing the holster. Cant really start until we have one in hand tho.

That is indeed a Shawn Morgan casting, I have one and it's gorgeous! :)

That's Shawn's first version of the pistol.

Last year he improved upon it- knurled bits at the front and back and grip detail. Even more gorgeous!

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

Glad top hear that. I really an looking forward to getting that detail ompleted.

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

Here's the one I bought from Shawn last year...

Yes, it's his last, improved version... and I've begun to improve it myself by replacing the lower scope with a more screen-accurate one scavanged from a Master Replicas / Star Wars rebel gun. It's great because the front section is clear (with the little orange thing inside) and it gives the gun more weight since it's made of metal instead of resin...

Like I said in a former post, I still have a lot of work to do to make it more screen-accurate (drill holes here and there, add markings, think about a new paint job, etc) but I think it's a good start since the major change has already been made...

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

Yep, if those scopes weren't used on a SW weapon, they might actually be affordable. I may have to talk to Shawn about this cast again. I want one even more now.

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

Believe it or not Andy, found my rebel blaster (without box & COA) for 80USD last year on eBay...

Looks like some sellers finaly offered them at a rather low price (compared to their regular price) to get rid of them (since everybody seemed mainly interested in stormtrooper blasters).

BTW, Shawn offers his NOSTROMO BLASTER in 2 versions (built and painted or in kit form at a lower price). I should add that he's a great guy, I really enjoyed his work in progess pics and his enthousiasm !

Hm... looks like the scope on the Hasbro Rebel Blaster toy is just exactly the right size! (apologies for ganking somebody's photo...)

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

That is a cool Idea Phase pistol!

I agree Shawn is a great guy. I have his Syd Mead concept blaster and he also gave me a few BR related casts as well as his wood master for a BR gun he made in the early 90's. His craftsmanship is also impeccable.

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

So, the blaster is a modified Stormtrooper blaster pistol(not the e-11), eh? Did both movies use the same prop shop?

Roger Christian worked on both movies, he was in charge of creating many of the props you've seen on screen... This to explain that ! (the NOSTROMO gun was made from a prototype stormtrooper pistol not seen in the film, only on a few promo pics)
:lol

Fred

PS : The toy rebel blaster is a good idea, indeed !!!

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

Unless the Rebel blasters scope has some feature that should be kept intact, wouldn't it be just as easy to add a clear cone and red rod to Shawn's blaster? I have one also, and that's what I had planned to do.

That was my idea before I found this really cheap Master replicas rebel blaster on eBay... It should work very well imho !

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

I would think it would be harder to find a properly sized clear plastic cone just floating around loose, than it would be to use the one off of the Hasbro blaster. BUT I might be wrong.

Anyway you'd want to add the little red rod or whatever it is that's visible on the inside. This is called a "Singlepoint" scope, correct?

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

So is it supposed to be frosted like that, or is the endcap clear?

Re: Alien Enviromental Suit Progress pics.

Didn't somebody have a bunch of pictures of the one that Bob Burns has?
