Scale model kits available soon

This is my new project.
I'm making a 1/2 studio scale size, at 36 inches, accurate and affordable shell kits for builders.
Like my phasers and 66 inch TOS starship, this will be a shell kit, reccomended for experienced builders.
I am finishing the masters right now, to make molds and I expect to be building light weight fiberglass Firefly class starships in a month.
They will have the rotating main engine and the side engines will work also, as will the shuttles and retracting landing gear, opening cargo bay, ect..
They will weigh only about 8 lbs.
Here is a picture of the rear engine, I still have to finish it, but it is a progress pic. Hang on to your seat. This is going to be great.

I am sorry, but which part of my last post in the previous thread did you not understand?

I have moved this thread back to the modeling forum just for everyones reference, although as it has been pointed out very little, if any, beneficial information has been communicated in this thread.

Baiting, trolling are not acceptable behaviors on the board and are unproductive.

In the mean time, RShanko, until you have pictures, there really is no point in having this thread continue as it has become unproductive. When you are ready to show your efforts, please open a new thread, I see no point in just writing about your efforts at this time.

Because of the trends created in your previous 'post no pictures' thread, I gave specific criteria for the creation of a new thread.

Post pictures today or this thread will be locked; the staff will not allow this pattern to continue. We appreciate you taking on this project and look forward to the outcome, but you have invited a great deal of trouble by having threads like this.

Sigh. I hate to see the "history of Firefly models" get tainted like this. We've been jerked around for SO long on this ship, and this BS thread is just salt in the wound.

At least Sasser posted "diagram-style assembly instruction" pics of his imaginary model. This endeavor? It's painful to watch and get hopes up - just like a QMx release... and I should know - I was privy to the vaporware as a consumer and as a "surprised to learn I was actually a volunteer" contractor.

Post pics or go home.

Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't there been zillions of projects that have been like this where there weren't pics until the masters were completed? I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure this happens...all the time.

Yes, but not with all of the fanfare generated far ahead of time by the maker, with nothing to show. It's a sure sign of vaporware when you have page after page of talk, and no action, in my experience. Spidey sense is tingling.

I agree, it is pretty constant here. The threads without pictures eventually die off themselves until pictures show up. HOWEVER in this case the same folks that keep posting comments about pictures and such as the ones bumping the tread and keeping it alive. hmmmm... funny how that works. While I know most of the comments do not have anything to do with the model and are all about personality conflicts I do find it ironic that complaining about a useless thread then keeps it going.

I hope to see pictures someday, but until then I will just keep an eye out for them - no biggie...it is a model, not the end of the world. :rolleyes

Nobody stopped this thread from going on for 10-1/2 pages before anything was shown (and a total of 17 pages over 8 months with nothing but a few CAD drawings). This just seems awfully heavy-handed. Chastise the baiters and trolls and those that try to derail the thread, not the person trying to build excitement for his own project (whether it ever comes to fruition or not is irrelevant). :thumbsdown

WTF? Are you kidding me? If we are depending on your "spidey sense" to save us we are sunk. After all, your "spidey sense" and your "common sense" both failed to see the signs or hear the screams of others that you were a "volunteer" Moff.

As for this thread, as DK pointed out it is a development thread. BBaich let it run. RShanko will either come through or he won't. If he does great! If not, oh well!

The problem is that this appears to be more of the same. Heavy-handed? If this was the first time this has happened, I'd agree with you.

The mods here at RPF have shown and are continuing to show Mr Shanko a considerable amount of leniency and patience.

In both threads, all he did was post about his project. It wasn't until "others" came into the thread and began baiting/trolling that the thread got off track.

Did RShanko take some return shots at them? Yes. Was that wise? Likely not. Did he start the problems though? NO.

For the mods to now impose a no pic/no thread rule on him is crap.

As DK pointed out, many project threads go pages and pages before any pics appear.

This is just leftover hostility from the E-thread and in that thread, there was plenty of dirt on everyone's hands including RShanko's. If the mods wanted to ban or censure him they should have done it then. These 2 threads clearly don't merit this though.

If that is going to be the case then in all fairness ALL development threads should post pictures immediately or be locked. Hey, the rules have to apply to everyone or they don't apply to anyone.

Now that said, I believe there will be pictures and none of the vaporware that has been shown by people/companies/etc. for far too long. I would love to get one of the babies as soon as they come out. But I'm not holding out hope that this thread won't be locked because of baiting and trolling though.

No offense, Bryan, but you're peddling a load of manure large enough to fertilize the entire State of Kansas. The staff showed a long time ago that they neither appreciate nor want any commentary from the members. That's why they shut down the open suggestion area that used to exist and replaced it with the current "only if we deem it worthy" one that exists now.

If you're going to make the "You've got until tonight to post pictures Rule", then make it board wide and lock any project threads without pictures. Otherwise, you'll just be playing the same wretched little power games that the rest of the staff has been playing for years. You're all sorry, sad and pitiful.

And, I'll wear my little infraction point (which I'm sure that I'll get later this evening) with honor, knowing that it was received in a good cause.
