1/72 Hoth Echo Base Hangar diorama

not sure whats going on here, all the LED's and resistors are from the same bags but those two in the rear are some bright suckers ain't they? At least in the photos anyway, in person it's slightly brighter but acceptable. As far as the glare, sorry...older Iphone with a not so great cam. So i took a few without the power on as well. the bottom of the ramp looks mighty dim, so i'm going to stuff another 3mm in the hole bandai has to their stock lighting. the i think we'll move on to other things. Big shout out to brother Korban for all his help (y) Blazing a path, he's been there and done it so he knows what's up, what works and what don't:lol:

Good to know..., So you’re using a variable heat/power iron then ?
What about solder flux - ever used that , is it worth while to your mind in aiding or speeding up the soldering process ?
hey Ged, I was in error about the setting I use on the iron...it's closer to 650

Nice lighting

as far as the uneven brightness, is it maybe a case of the viewing angle? i.e. maybe the rest are more inset, or at a different angle, or maybe the dome on them is a little different?

I know you can modify the angle the spreads out by just changing the shape of the dome, the flatter the more the light spreads out I think

You're probably right...good future reference. as much as I'd like for these to all be even, looking at it in person it's not horrible...good enough for who it's for anyway. I'd probably open a can of worms pulling them all out to adjust or flatten the tips which I don't think I'll do this time. Going forward however I think that's the thing to do when even lighting from a group of LED's is desired (y) thanks for the tip brother!

I had two fully painted R2 units but couldn't find the second one last night and I wanted to stick the corridor piece...so I borrowed the one from the diorama for now  I did find a bag of 8 R4's in primer but I can't recall what I did with the rest of the R2's...

Adding a figure or droid really makes the ramp more fun!
Sure does (y) korban did that as well, I think. the pic he sent me was Bobba Fett standing there but i'm sure he put someone else in it later. on the MPC's I had printed cut-outs of R2 stuck to a square of clear plastic and hand drew the hallway behind him...this is the first with real pieces, way better!(y)

I'd like to find some 1/72 standing Han and Chewy to put at the foot of the ramp. I had a pair from the MPC Cantina scene kit, but they're in the diorama with the MPC. may have to see what Gus has come up with as of late

It turned out they were only released in those vending machines in Japan.

Gashapon - Wikipedia

My bet is they were initially supposed to be standing figures in the 1/72 Falcon , much like Fine Molds had done and Bandai had done with the earlier Star Wars kits.

But then when they had to pull the plug on the standing figures they decided to at least get the development/tooling cost back some other way, thus the Gashapon machine release instead

At any rate, I just ordered the sets! thanks!

I don’t know... the Gashapon figures and kits have a lower grade of sculpting than the Bandai/Bandai Spirits kits from what I’ve seen.

These look identical in detail to the PG Falcon figures, just in standing positions

Also I am pretty sure the Vader one is actually the exact same master of the Vader standing figure from the Vader Tie kit, but just with a base added

very interesting...o_O...you don't mean to say that in my FM falcon there are standing figures lurking in the runners?? All I ever did was open it to compare hull pieces with the MPC...and I haven't even looked at the instructions!

Weird.

This is the Vader I saw. That link above has different Stormtrooper poses as well

very weird.
You'd think this sort of thing ( standing Han and Chewy) would be an easy find on SW for 6-10 bucks. Always seems what one is looking for, thought to likely be available, is not. My butt still aches from the taun with luke I found that was 45 bucks , but OH YES I made a mold of it before I painted and used it!
