1/72 Cloud City Diorama with PG Falcon and FM Slave 1

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely throw a copper rod in there. The canopies I got with mine are broken, so I'll have to do some surgery on them.

Scratch new ones. I had to on one of those snow speeders. the thing was so freakin' thin and the other heavier pieces in the box must have broken it. but even if it hadn't been broken it wasn't worth using anyway:mad:

Yeah, I might just do that... I'll take a closer look tonight and see if they are salvageable at all.

That sucks the canopies were broken. For mine, the windows were all covered up with flashing, quite thick in a few spots.

it was a very tedious process.

I was also going to add clear plastic for the windows but there was barely anything to glue onto and there was also barely any room to fit the canopy over the pilots head.

So much so, that I wondered it either the pilots helmets were oversized or the canopy was too small.

I suspect that pilot might have been made from a modified Fine Molds x-wing pilot sculpting a new helmet onto it

On the plus side, the panels lines on the kit are amazing. Nice and crisp, but also very fine rather than way out of scale

When i did that replacement for the speeder, i made the canopy out of clear plastic sheet I got at the hobby and then painted the frame. it was one of you guys that suggested that approach...Scott maybe? Ged? can't recall, but it worked great (y)

Here you can see how tight a fit it is. I also have a problem getting the canopy to sit flush without seeing gaps. I've got to try fixing that

The rest of the kit is quite good, but that sure is the weakest part of it and hardest to fix

Thanks for sharing yours! That definitely helps... I'll be working on that this weekend, most likely, along with planning the building for my platform.

Part of the fit issue could be that I sanded the whole thing flat and it might have needed a slight slope/curve or something

I've been working off and on with my PG Falcon. I still have a ton of work to do on finishing her up... not to mention, finishing the landing pads and wiring all the electronics... ugh... Anyway, here's some detail work I've been doing to improve the overall finished look of the Falcon.

And my secret sauce for realistic rust:

The Falcon is such a masterpiece of a vehicle... I find myself staring at its beauty for hours on end... This ship is going to make a fantastic centerpiece for my Cloud City Diorama. It's no wonder she is the most popular ship in the Star Wars universe.

Absolutely beautiful! and you're photography is excellent!(y)(y) Not only the SW universe, but I'd say it has long surpassed anything in the Trek world as well.
