1:1 Scale Snowspeeder (T-47 Airspeeder) build.

Military canteens have historically come with a wool, or similar canvas, outer cover that you soak with water. This then cools the container as it dries. These in the original photo look to not only show texture but actual cloth wraps. This would be expected to be there so I zoomed in. Could be lighting but it looks like they are wrapped around like a band, open at the top and bottom but fully wrapping around 360.
You mean the old WW1/WW2 english ones? Yes i agree. But Ill have to find a cheaper option at the material shop though...

The screen pics have just the mid band instead of the full carrier sleeve. Starts at the line that the plastic bottle starts its textured area:

I would have said tarpaline but that is usually a fully square weave but this is a diagonal like tweed or similar. But still very likely a wool. I will try to find a good Joanne Fabric model number.

For presentation at a few feet, it could be just doing a grey wash on the textured area only and then lightly polishing the high points. This would leave the grey, lighter color, down in the texture. This screen cap LOOKS like cloth but there are some very shiny spots where the texture ends at the top edge which would indicate that it is either cloth melted into (maybe just at the edges) the plastic or it is not cloth but a cloth pattern. I expect a cloth due to it being a canteen so the shiny edge was a bit of a surprise and no sewing nor rolled edges/finished edges are present as would be with a normal cloth sleeve.

Very likely it just needs a color wash in that area to look a match.

Started work on the rear rockets. I was planning on a 3D print but my 3D print contact is out of action. I have now decided to use weight gain tubs, funnels and plumbing pipes. I started by scaling up the engine and worked out i could get by with 50mm diameter pipes.

Some more detailing and some bands around the top and bottom will be needed. A threaded rod (plugged into the funnel part) holds the whole thing together and the same rod will secure it to the rear of the speeder.

I was a bit confused when you said: "Getting out was almost impossible":oops: Is he talking about the entire ship...or something else?
Then I saw you legs on top of the seat head rest:lol::lol: Hopefully you had some kind of help; I could see the headlines on the 6 o'clock local news: "Man stuck into his recreation of a SW Snowspeeder":p

.......******DAK*****.......

i have to know how much this thing weighs when its done... if theres a way to do that.
I dont know if anyone has seen .. ok everyone has had to see the Jetson 1 personal drone.. and i have always thought that would make a perfect
base for adding some snowspeeder look to... i think that would be awesome.
This thing is amazing and i would love to see it in person someday.
such great work!

This thing is a piece of art! the detail is amazing, i cannot wait to jump in at upcoming event and take plenty of pics. trying to work out how it becomes a simulator Mr V! hahaha
Thanks Jeddz! Hit a hump a few months back thinking ....what has i thinking..... The internals have taken forever. But totally happy with the mostly finished product. Doing the Speeder bike together really showed me what was possible.
