1:1 Scale Snowspeeder (T-47 Airspeeder) build.

Another cracker period photo of the ships being built. Awesome.

Engine assembly. This was fun. Each circle and its location is measured from a central threaded rod which is holding the whole section together. The threaded rod will eventually be bolted between the two bulkheads.

7mm plywood used with 19mm ply blocks to space out each section.

Grey section is 3D printed.

Finding one real life piece and having its true measurement is like finding the Rosetta stone.

This is a huge leap forward. It looks incredible.
Yes indeed; if every props/models could be like that...our life could be easier ;)
Up and into it early this weekend. Engine section completed and a test fit of the laser cannon. Very happy.

I must say that finding the slide projector tray has really helped to get proportions and sizes correct.

Happy New Year!
Started the large laser bulkhead. Again....far more work than i expected....But all of the lines, shapes and angles are lining up. Test run of the wings folding show that they almost reach vertical but not quite. That no problem though as the overall width (wings folded) will be within 2m.

So....a friend has some spare warehouse space for a few weeks so think this is a great time to spread my wings and make use of it. I hired a car trailer and quickly determined that i need fixing points. A 16km journey almost ended in tears with the last corner taken too quickly as i watched the speeder in my rear view mirror slide across the trailer. The only words i could think of were....“a rapid unscheduled disassembly”.

But we made it! Hellooooo warehouse!

Second wing complete.

Heart Attack Worthy. So glad this had a happy ending to this update.

The wings actually fold! Success!!
However, i will need a brace to hold them across the top when transporting. The weight is really starting to add up on this thing.

Just as exciting was seeing the entire thing rise on the pallet lift. For a brief moment i was actually on the set watching this ship rise for a take. You can see the tie down brackets i have installed on the underside.

Started to make the rear panels that sit below the wings. The air breaks will attached to these. As you can see i have collected quite an aray of greeblies. printer cartridges, Barbie wheelchair, A toy motorbike, Clothes rack parts, Fly screen, Electric fence insulators and a four pack beer can holder. I went a bit crazy here as there are no good reference images of this area.
