1:1 Scale Snowspeeder (T-47 Airspeeder) build.

Started to cut out the canopy frames this weekend. I have continued to use the 19mm ply but i have reservations about it keeping its shape. I am hoping once it is all glued and screwed and with a coat of paint to reduce moisture uptake....it should be fine. We will see.

The angle i measured on the pilot dash board only just matches the canopy frame. The good aspect of this though is that it will help guide the canopy into place when opening and closing it.

Getting all the perspex windows cut this week. I made cardboard templates for each window so the plastic guys get it right. Opted for 3mm perspex that i will silicon in place.

The canopy will be fine with the windows affixed solidly. Re-enforcing the roof will be key since it has to open on hinges.:cool:(y)(y)

For sure. The canopy roof will be solid as. I am surprised how light the canopy is though-which is a good thing.

Yes, the two up one down tube arrangement in standard Rebel Alliance engineering 101 (I totally made that up).

That got me thinking, where else have I seen a multi-tube exhaust system.... The good Doctor's motor!

Well. sort of in a roundabout kinda way.

so when you go into manufacturing, how long will it take me as a pre-order member to get one?

the first time i saw the Jetson One i thought of turning it into a snowspeeder... if you have not seen the Jetson... go find it.

As in the George Jetson cartoon? Haha, my pre-orders would make an Anovos pre-order look like a...actually i wont go there..

no! the Jetson One is a new manned quad copter vehicle made in Europe. the company is called Jetson. it always reminded me of the snowspeeder when I watched test flights etc. its very cool. you should check it out

Oh yes! i recall that one. Very cool....but it needs laser cannons:)

Canopy! made of 19mm thick ply and remarkably light. The perspex will certainly add some addition weight but all in all this thing should work.

Unfortunately, my worst fears were realized and the dash does not fit with the canopy on-hello saw and filler....

Some update images. I still have two more cooling fins to add but they will fold inwards as part of the air breaks.

Also, the humble milk crate. So versatile. These things are dumped everywhere so what better use for some interior detailing. I used the truss sections to mimic internal frames in the cockpit. Rustoleum silver for colour....

The dismantled vacuum cleaner, compost bin, car parts and electrical cables made for great detailing.

Dash board detailing! Learnt this neat little trick from another builder. With a few old iphones sitting in a drawer it is a great way to re purpose them.

The starboard side of the dash has two squares that reminded me of the astromech Front Logic Display. I have made a huge assumption and feel this is a great little homage to Rebel engineering to have this display. I look forward to seeing who spots it.....

The prop probably had something displaying here but possibly not bright enough for the film stock to pick it up..??

This is just coming along so amazingly well. So awesome!!

I am so jealous of this project! I wanted to build a life size snow speeder since I first saw it. Yours is coming along so fast! Really beautiful work!!!
