ANOTHER PKD Blaster build (but my first....)

Hi all

I've finally got to a stage where I can post pictures of my *finished* PKD Blaster, based on the brilliant resin kit from DaveChaos at TipTopWorkshop using Anders Pederson's amazing rendering. I've also used a solid metal grip butt and trigger guard (no source unfortunately - ebay purchases that I was lucky enough to fall upon).

I've also got parts on there from the metal upgrade kit from TipTopWorkshop (triggers/hammer/weaver knob and scope knob etc etc) which all add a great sense of reality and some extra weight too. Especially the feel of the butt, triggers and trigger guard when you touch them. The cold metal feel really adds something.

The bullets you can see and in the ammo box are inert .44 S&W special rounds which when loaded also give more chonk to the overall weight too. The ammo boxes are something I designed, printed and put together. I also printed a seal label using a widely available graphic that seems to be everywhere. So I re-drew it like-for-like and used it as the label you see as all of the wording seemed to fit

The unicorn is an etsy purchase (Hobby Origami) - a great size and good price too. I've made some snake scale props, Zhora polaroid, and general photographs from the movie to keep with the box. As though i'm 'mid hunt' for Rutger and the gang.

The electrics are something I tried out with red acrylic rods, white leds, and an extra switch inside the battery case to toggle the green sight acrylic rod 'lights' on and off. but as the original blaster in the film didn't have the green lights lit (and separately in another project i've gotten really good at very tidy wiring looms for the red led circuit) I might revise this and replace with a red led only circuit? Another unfinished detail on my finished blaster, lol

I'm fairly happy with it, but also want to re-paint the pistol frame and work more on the grips, so i'm not sure it will ever be truly finished?
I'm also sure i'll find something else to tweak once it's apart again too...

Thanks for looking
PaulF

Looks absolutely beautiful!

Thanks wayouteast - I need to buy x2 more boxes from hobbycraft before they're discontinued! It was too much fun burning them to get the black surface!!

And i've promised my 15 year old he can burn the next one, under supervision.
I don't think it counts as being proper Shou Sugi Ban technique for burning wood, but it's excellent fun and looks good with oil and varnish

It's a sweet touch for sure!

The whole package looks incredible, PaulF! (y)

Cheers expo180 - I've got another of the brilliant PKD blaseter resin kits to build for a friend and have made the mistake of showing him the box and how i've cut foam inserts and lined it etc AND I'm also in the list for one of DaveChaos 's upcoming all metal PKD run too (fingers extermely crossed!)

So I need another x2 identical boxes

Absolutly Beautiful done. I own a Tomenosuke Retailer Edition Blaster. Also i 3D printed one myself. It was a 100+ hour project. The worst part were the electronics. Hopefully one day someone sells those electronics fitting and assembled. But i also have a question: Could you upload the files for the Ammo Boxes and also the seal that you put on the box, ready for printing? That would be amazing. I was thinking of making a box too for the Blaster, also ordered a Stand from the Forum yesterday. Also some idea for Bullets: 3D print them with see through black resin and fill them up with UV-Powder. I did that and they look like they are radioactive, pretty fitting for Hunting an retiring replicants.

Thanks Spikeyfied and those are some excellent atmospheric photographs too, great work.

I'm currently working on getting some ammo boxes ready to sell on eBay and possible Etsy as well as some other bits and bobs, but will look into an upload of the artwork at some point too for you.

Great idea for the bullets!
