Hi all
I've finally got to a stage where I can post pictures of my *finished* PKD Blaster, based on the brilliant resin kit from DaveChaos at TipTopWorkshop using Anders Pederson's amazing rendering. I've also used a solid metal grip butt and trigger guard (no source unfortunately - ebay purchases that I was lucky enough to fall upon).
I've also got parts on there from the metal upgrade kit from TipTopWorkshop (triggers/hammer/weaver knob and scope knob etc etc) which all add a great sense of reality and some extra weight too. Especially the feel of the butt, triggers and trigger guard when you touch them. The cold metal feel really adds something.
The bullets you can see and in the ammo box are inert .44 S&W special rounds which when loaded also give more chonk to the overall weight too. The ammo boxes are something I designed, printed and put together. I also printed a seal label using a widely available graphic that seems to be everywhere. So I re-drew it like-for-like and used it as the label you see as all of the wording seemed to fit
The unicorn is an etsy purchase (Hobby Origami) - a great size and good price too. I've made some snake scale props, Zhora polaroid, and general photographs from the movie to keep with the box. As though i'm 'mid hunt' for Rutger and the gang.
The electrics are something I tried out with red acrylic rods, white leds, and an extra switch inside the battery case to toggle the green sight acrylic rod 'lights' on and off. but as the original blaster in the film didn't have the green lights lit (and separately in another project i've gotten really good at very tidy wiring looms for the red led circuit) I might revise this and replace with a red led only circuit? Another unfinished detail on my finished blaster, lol
I'm fairly happy with it, but also want to re-paint the pistol frame and work more on the grips, so i'm not sure it will ever be truly finished?
I'm also sure i'll find something else to tweak once it's apart again too...
Thanks for looking
