#2 came in the mail and it turns out it’s the same thing....only with machined edges and slotted set screws. this got me thinking.. what if that visible screw is not a countersunk screw, but a slotted set screw!
I ended up making the square nut out of the plate I cut off #1. Neat right? It was the exact thickness needed. Drilled and tapped them all at once stuck together!
now ...the included set screws don’t line up with the one we see at the top.. and aren’t long enough to bury themselves into the graflex, so I cut off the ends of some machine screws of the same thread count, and cut slots in them with a dremel.
I decided the exposed screw needed a friend to stay in place, so I drilled the screw we see near the tip and used the existing rear set screw hole and drilled it into the graflex slot..almost haha it doesn’t quite line up.
I drilled and tapped the graflex and kobold after finding the right location using the photos we have... but being set screws means it’s not screwed tight, just roughly set in place, rattling. The slot is so thin even the set scre s can’t come out, they have to be slid along its length to get out, so there’s no way a screw head could get in there anyways...
so so I pulled out some E6000 and mucked up the DIY set screws and screwed everything into place.
the exposed set screw and empty hole bother me. I was thinking of sliding some Mylar tape in there? At the right angles they’re invisible.
Anyway, the bars don’t seem wide enough for my liking but it’s the closest thing I can think of!
