"Brunt of thier wrath" means getting yelled at over the phone by a friend. No one like when that happens.

Why would you be shouted at? Just because you're a member here? You didn't post the pictures. :unsure
I'm not by any stretch of the imagination judging you Phil, as you have strived to bring information to this community many times in the past, and provided us with superb castings of original pieces - but perhaps the term 'friend' needs to be examined in the above context. I would have certainly yelled back.
Replicators of the RPF self-righteous?
I think not.
'Good old boys.'
Far from it as far as the facts have emerged.
This is all becoming
very childish. If the owner of the original is one of the 'shouters' then he/she shouldn't have exhibited the prop at the Worldcon SF community event in the first place. They're aware of the RPF, so it's
obvious the information would end up here, THE internet SF prop forum.
It makes me wonder at the mentality of these collectors - and I agree with noeland's post considerably.
I understand several members have items they cannot share with the rest of us, that's fine - but to have a couple of members taken to task when they have done absolutely nothing wrong is unfair and deserves an apology IMHO.
Perhaps in future we should all hide our prop discoveries - I should have cast up the Eumig body I found and sold it here, Serafino should have kept the balance pipe info to himself and had replicas machined - as should have Killdozer upon finding the booster - I could go on. Then we could have all sat back with our fingers clasped across our stomaches, self -satisfied as we watch the members scratching their heads.
The thing is the majority of members here
share what they find in the good natured tradition of companionship and
community, knowing others have an unyielding passion for these pieces which goes beyond personal profit. They just want an accurate piece in the cabinet or on the wall.
At the end of the day I sincerely believe that's what it's all about, money.
Time (and not too much of it if you ask me) will tell. After all, the pictures are still 'out there' and no amount of shouting at friends can stop an accurate replica being built now.
I just wish I had the machine shop to build one for myself.
Howard.
