Yoda VD lightsaber discussion

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Amazing that that flash is such a pain in the butt to find.

I haven't looked as diligently for that flash as I have other parts, but still.

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

I've been looking for this flash since before any OB1 parts and have been able to source two sets of handwheels already, but no Praco. In fact I've seen two MPP's for sale in that same time (obviously not the same pricing), but still I've never even seen a real Praco.

As a side note, the Service Flashmaker is made by Praco. Weird...

I think aside from OB1, a DL-44, an E-ll, and a Triple Deuce, I'll be going purely replica as well. Although, I really do enjoy the sleuthing involved with tracking down real parts. The Praco is frustrating though.

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Evenso ... you can get the wrong type of Praco as I did ... very close but still need some parts of a Bolsey 2 to make it complete :wacko Meanwhile here's a Bolsey 2 converted with real and replica parts :

That looks great!

I have the wrong Praco too... just looked at it... black bottom cap and no side button thing...

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Not that hard ... but you'll need the proper endcap, oilpan and emitter ... and still it always will be and remain a mirrored image of a Praco :wacko ... and the brand name is Bolsey #2 ... not Bosley who was the middle man of Charlie's Angels :

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Concerning the Bolsey 2 mirrored saber, does the Service flash end cap have two pins coming out of it? Or is that the wrong knurled, silver end cap?

I mean if you don't do the blackened-removal from the Bolsey end cap.

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Try refrasing your question because I don't know what you're on about, please? Or perhaps use some pictures to illustrate what you mean?

I'm talking about these two pins. I had read that you could combine a Bolsey 2 with a Service flash (albeit, I believe that was mostly to get around the black end cap issue). Or is this (using the Service cap) leaning more towards illegit or more towards Praco?

It's not hard, but there's still no oil pan part locked down... so I had to build my own. I lucked into a lambo wheel as well...

It was fun, and I like this little saber.

awesome im going to check that thread out now!

chaim your too much! LOL

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Wow ... indeed mugatu that Service endcap looks rather close to a Praco, just loose those pins they are not on a Praco ... so with a Bolsey #2 and that Service endcap you could build a Yoda lightsaber I suppose if they are the same size and the thread allows swapping :) Here's the picture of the correct Praco as seen on thepartsofsw website :

and one of the grips :

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Yep I remember the guy saying they just "cast up some grips" to finish it off.

chaim is this your saber? do you have a build thread for it? did u have to have a machinist knurl the end cap?

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Yep that's my finished Bolsey which came almost done to my doorstep including that knurled endcap ... so there's no build thread ... I only added the correct emitter or 1/16th front wheelcap of a Lamborghini ... I have a real Praco which will need some parts of my second Bolsey to complete as well as some grips ... when I start building that I'll post a thread ... but that can be a while ... since I still have to finish my Luke's ANH and ESB, Darth Vader's MPP ESB/ROTJ and my all real parts OB1 :wacko

If you happen to see a Praco with this 'head' :

... you still need some parts of a Bolsey #2 to complete 1 Yoda lightsaber + oilpan replica, emitter and grips!

chaim you are the man, always willing to help! does some bosely #2's come with the knurled end? can the praco knurled end fit right on the praco?

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

I've got the wrong praco same as Chaim I'd sell. It has the shroud though. ;)

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Got any pics scottjua? Is it an original Praco shroud? Or a Bolsey #2? As far as I know Bolsey #2 doesn't come with a knurled endcap but I could be mistaken. The endcap of the Praco screws inside until it does not go further ... there's still a flat space not knurled visible :

Praco endcap on the left, Bolsey #2 on the right :)

Endcap as seen on a real Praco Yoda lightsaber :

Re: Yoda VD lightsaber question

Hey guys,

read the story about the Yoda lightsaber for the first time and am thinking how cool it might be to create a piece of Star Wars.

I have this little Bolsey #2. Right endcap, right emitter, oilpan and some grips.
But before I attach the grips I have to ask you, how hard would it be to rearrange the clamp so it isn't mirrored.
As you can see in the pictures below the oilpan switch is attached on the wrong side of the holes in the clamp and the notch is in the wrong position, too.

Ok, now that I watched the pictures Chaim posted of the converted Bolsey I am confused.
Is my clamp mirrored? Is every Bolsey #2 clamp mirrored.
Please help, you are my last hope.
