Yoda VD lightsaber discussion

well tomorrow i plan to finally finish this project, if my finger holds up to it. (which its feeling so much better) i have a question about the grips. i have always epoxied my tracks on the graflex. with the yoda i wouldnt mind the grips being removable this way if i ever were to remove the mid-band i can.

i thought i read on here that some one used 3m double sided tape? but i cant seem to find it again.. i have 3m double sided tape but its way too thick. anyone use or know where i can find paper thin 2 way tape?

im heading out tomorrow to pick up supplies for my denix so while im out i can try and hunt down the tape if anyone knows the name or what to exactly search for. any advice is greatly appreciated

i dont believe i shared this here. but last week this happened

i couldnt believe the size of this model kit. after seeing so many pictures online of it, the box is huge!! after moving the paper booklet there it was in all its glory!!

......my precious, still sealed in that bag

heres how they are laid out in the package
lambo6.jpg

now with these in front of me i can clearly tell the difference between the spare and the front. i cant believe cost effective wise they actually made a different mold for the spare wheel?

heres a size comparison of the box

the thing is freak'n huge. but makes sense by the scale, you just never really realize it until you see it in real life

Awesome! I might build ONE more Yoda saber to sell, so if'n you're looking to rid yourself of one of the wheels, lemme know! I'd obviously put the REAL wheel on my personal Yoda hilt.

But then I'ma need another oil pan, Praco screw, yadda yadda yadda!

Yeah, that's a dagummed huge model kit box!

Oh yeah, forgot to say, there's some double sided scotch tape that I use for mine. Should be easy to find at any craft store. Looks just like a regular scotch tape roll.

3m 300LSE tape (ipad digitizer/ glass tape) would work really well for the grips if you want to make them removeable. The only thing might be is if the grips you are using are curved. If they are you should have no problems.

Also sjanish has Lambo wheels in the JY, they are ones he molded and came out great

great!! i knew i read that some where i thought i was losing my mind for a minute! as for the wheels we went in as a group buy so i only have 1 for myself. this was actually the lowest I've ever seen a lambo kit go for, i thought for sure this was going to come screwed up thats why i made a video unboxing just to prove that i was ripping the other buyer off. but it was all legit!! so it worked out in the end

thanks tom! while im out ill grab some of that stuff as well if i can find it. yeah my grips are curved, fingers crossed i can get this to work lol i have a couple of his cast lambo wheels they are perfect! i am just a junkie for greeblies, and i had another member heating up my spoon once we saw it listed on eBay. to be honest my cast wheel is on the saber now and most likely going to stay there. i bought extra greeblies ( told ya im a junkie) so i can display them next to the completed saber

Here's what I've been using, lately. Off-brand, but works just fine, and is the perfect width!

I used this stuff on my Luke Graflex sabers all the way back in '98, it held tight until I finally removed the rubber grips to replace with proper T track!

I just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone involved in helping me complete my Praco saber. this was a very long journey, working and collecting parts on and off. thank you to those to helped me find parts, casted parts for me, gave me better placement advice, shared eBay links, and thanks to all those who helped me hunt down material to finish it! paint, tape, SCREW! lol thank you all.

though i have a bump right hand, ol' lefty is catching on better then i thought. the praco is done!!

looks like your gonna need a bigger display case
Awsome job, looks great!

You're gonna need to scoot that oil pan over closer to the rectangular openings on the mid band. If you're going for total accuracy.

Here's the real prop.

Other than that minor detail, which should be an easy fix, I have to say it's absolutely glorious!

Okay, I gotcha. I just didn't want you to be freaking after all the time and effort you've put into this thing!

Glad it was a conscious decision!

Again, lovely work, sir! You should be proud!!

no i appreciate it, it was a long debate. I have 2 mid bands, and a extra oil pan, so i can have both versions. this wasn't planned i always grab extra greeblies, and planned on displaying the extra pan beside the saber. but once i discovered the different versions i figured i could use the extra pan, and band if i want

it was fun collecting, and learning about the parts used. and being able to discuss and view everyone else work was great! this is one of my favorite threads!

You can't rotate the band because of the notch that fits around that stud on the side.

yeah not just that but when the oil pan is clocked, its moved closer to the 2 square holes. i do have extras. i may put them together. this is why i wanted to have removable grips so i could interchange them if i wanted to

i may just assemble the other band, though i really like the parallel look
