What cylinders are you guys going on about?
[/b]
BB1 kinda lost me there for a minute :p but I believe these are what he means.
I still have no idea which 'Howitzer' he's trying to blame for them. LoL

I just lent my Plastruct catalog to a friend. About all I can say about the 'T' rod off hand is, it's
pretty tiny :rolleyes
sorry

Recalling the oceanliner for a moment. Three pieces so far. 1 pyrimid, 1 wedge and a house with 3 car garage.
Search the top of the Y for another wedge and the house. ;)
You'll need more than one, or some RTV

Well they arent from a military kit... a bit of detail needs cut off but these are the "cylinders" and the ILM shelves prove this fact.

The dreaded yellow Sealab plastic...
[/b]
...but from the dreaded Sealab, they are not.
I've still got nuthin on them yet. Unfortunatly. :unsure

Thank you SOOO much Darkside for the pic. You've just
narrowed my search for the illusive frame rails like you
wouldn't believe. :thumbsup

I found three new parts from kits that I have. Some of you might already know what these are, though. Two I am sure about and the third one may be from any number of kits with the same part.

Tamiya 25pdr Field Gun - part X31 (studio scale kit scans - seventh picture)
PzKpfw III M/N - small door/hatch goes on the back of the head (also at the kit scans page)
M577 Command Post - I believe the sledge hammer is the one that goes beside R2

Thanks for the lead Darkside.

Leads no problem. Now focus on the illusive lower neck area and a few other parts and I'd gladly reveal the rest.

At this point I don't really give a $hit.

I'm not really worried about the lower neck area... or those other parts that you want.

I've been following this thread with great interest. You all have been doing some great research.

Any chance that we're likely to see any buildups in progress showcasing all this effort?

hmm...lets see, lower neck. ok here's one. :confused

I guess i should have been more specific. The lower neck structure. In purple...

picture264acopyqz1.jpg

Are you certain that that is all one structure? There is some Plastruct square-U channel on that... and that curved pipe looks like it's from the Kettenkrad...

Hey Darkside... how did you find out about all the other parts, besides the few you don't know, anyway?

Yea there is a piece of U chanel but the structure is whole. I've been buying kits for 8 years... I average a couple thousand a year, one tends to find a lot. The Y isn't the only model I've mapped or begun building. Just the first and the one I'd like to finish the most so I talk about it from time to time. I've been helped also, not to mention stabbed in the back several times. :rolleyes The last few pieces remain a mystery... but they will be found.

OK im just a small fish here, but the purple understructure looks like a cockpit tub from a large scale aircraft kit to me, at least IMO it doesnt look like a chassis, freaky as it sounds, i got an old airfix ME 262 kit in 1/72 and the tub resembles the shape sorta, thats what gave me the idea anyways. Scuse the noobness.

Hope Kuhn Global doesn't mind if I borrow this :confused
You've Id'd more of the parts than I have. But I see a couple parts you didnt highlight.

Hidden behind the tube in your pic we've got 2 track links on either side, hinted by Flintlock
earlier ;)
Next we have 2 Hurricane landing gear legs showing. Nestled against them is a track pad
from the 'Rabbit' The large L tube is also from the 'Rabbit'.

The little tube with box at the end, rectangle bathtub thing and the little lego block seem familiar.
However I'm probly just 'Bug nuts' from looking at parts :confused

When I look at the large curved piece thats underneath everything else. The only thing
I can think of, is a really big transmission case.

I think you may just have something there Ralphee :eek :thumbsup
Its difficult to tell if some parts are attached or if they are part of the piece
but looking at it from this angle doesn't it VERY much resemble the back of a large seat.... :D

Its such a hard shape to make out Bri, but what i mean is it looks just like some form of cockpit tub unit, like a one piece hollow unit glued to the underside of the Y, the only thing that blows my theory out the water a little is the fact it would one large scale kit, maybe 1/32 or even 1/24. What large scale jet kits were around during the ANH era.

This is the ME262 1/72 tub i was going on about, the shape and size is way off obviously, but food for thought? im sure Jamie has looked at tubs till blue in the face, but maybe others have kits they can look at, the angles and shapes to that neck part just look like footwells etc to me.

I need that cool program like Darkside's so I can highlight stuff too. :(
I was thinking the support ribs were the seats back. But if I stand on
my head LoL and see it as it's positioned on the Y, it looks more like
the floor. I think I'm with you Ralphee B)
There is a round teet on the right and if you remove the large
L pipe it looks like one is under there as well. So we've got 2 mounting
points. Your right too about it being a large kit. I'm thinking at least 1/24
possibly 1/20? maybe even larger?
I can't think of any jets in those sizes either :confused But I can think of a
couple racing vehicles that are very much like fighter jets.
And I currently have none of them :angry

Just mad speculation on my part Bri but its just how i see the part i guess, ill probably get shot down but hey im trying to throw something out there. You could be onto maybe an F1 car, but i think Jamie has looked at all those, its frustrating to me so its gotta be driving you guys nuts.

Trust me... this is a real madening part/area. I've been looking for it since day one. Yea I know of the detail parts on the outcroppings. I've looked into the "tub" theory with no luck. It could still be a tub of sorts... It's smaller than one would imagine also. Roughly 3.625" long x 3/4" high. The upper neck/angled area is just as bad as I've never had clear reference of it.

The bad thing about the Y is there are so many donor kits from just as many different model companys. Some of these kits are very rare and they only used one part from the kit. I'll never give up... but I may never have a complete model either. That's the way the game is played... for me anyway.

I'm enjoying the renewed interest and energy here. It's about time. I have a lot of parts to add to my model at the moment, I'll get them added ASAP and snap some pictures for you guys.

Shugger, I use Adobe Photoshop.
