I noticed this was never answered.
I love the TIE helmet.
Did you use an APH-6 for the base and sculpt the rest? It looks amazing.

I may have missed this, but did you ever find the source of the "pillbox" on the back of the TIE Helmet?

Gino (or anyone else), I posted a question over at JRS about putting together a TIE helmet, and had some success, but wondered if you could offer any additional advice-
when gluing the triangular mohawk piece down onto the central strip, how can you get a nice clean join without any gaps and avoid glue squeezing out and spoiling the finish.
Superglue gives a strong gap free effect, but excess stuff can ruin the gloss finish of the plastic(I don't want to paint).
Does anyone use a glue where excess can be cleanly wiped away. I was thinkng maybe E6000.

Thanks Gino. I've seen pictures of screen used helmets with some real nasty runs, but I want to try and get mine as clean as possible.
I thought epoxy, but that stuff can get leave some nasty strings which will instantly ruin a nice gloss finish!

Amazing work!
I'm not sure how minute of variation you're looking for, but I thought I would throw these out there anyways.
You classified Dak's helmet as ESB Standard Converted, how does it differ from the Standard helmet beyond the angle of the ear decals?
Again, you can see the discrepancy of the Rouge Squadron helmets, such as Dak's with the blue, rebel decals.
I don't know who the pilot is, is it Luke?
Is this ''Hero 3''?

I classified Dak as ESB standard converted because his helmet was an ANH standard helmet that was converted into an ESB standard. I think most of the ESB pilots were this type of helmet with the exception of Luke, Wedge, Rogue 2, and Jansen who utilized actual detailed hero helmets leftover from ANH.
That conversion of the ANH standard to the ESB standard consisted of removing the smoke tinted visor (from the ANH standard) and replacing it with a hero visor (the yellow tinted ones). Although looking at that ESB group shot in the chart, it looks like some of the pilots still have non converted ANH standard helmets (with smoke tinted visors).
The placement of the decals is slightly different on every helmet.

I'm a bit hesitant to buy into any of the stuff from the writers of books or trading cards when it comes to this sort of thing. I like to keep it solely to what is seen/heard in the actual film or script.
Could John D. actually be John Dykstra? Maybe he did the voice over for one of the guys or something and it was just an "in joke" to put his name in the credits as one of the pilots.
