X-WING & TIE PILOT HELMET progress pics

Can you post the pictures of the original TIE that this was cast from? It would be fascinating to see.

It is a very bold claim to make especially considering how few were made and how even fewer survived to this day.

Of the helmets that I know of in private hands, they would certainly not take them apart for molding, given the £70,000 plus price tag.

Edit: Can you identify which one it is in this picture?

That is exactly what I want to know as well. Not more, not less. It´s very interesting to know. Sure a good story. I can´t assume any reason, why it could be forbidden to ask you about that.

I do not know a lot about TIE helmets, but the originals on SWhelmets do not appear to have the tear track detail like your replicas above. Was this detail on some originals and not on others?
No, I think the consencus is they have none.

Just going to field a guess here. If his Stormtrooper masks have that lineage of being cast off of an original, would it not stand to reason that the face masks of the TIE helmets would as well?

I'm guessing you just used your hero faceplate and a real flight helmet?

They both look perfect! I too would love to hear whatever you feel you can share on these.

Either way superb work on these bad boys!

I think the same about it. And have to agree: great job on them.:thumbsup

As pointed out above, it is on the starwarshelmets.com TIE helmet and it is also on the Prop Store TIE helmet. Does not mean it is present on every helmet (maybe a super soft pull would mean it doesn't show up) but here is evidence of at least two helmets with the detail intact as Gino has it on his replica.

Is your question really in the interest of knowing whether the detail is on every helmet or not or is it more about hoping to find a way to criticize Gino's replica, because right now it seems you are more interested in the latter than the former...

Jorg, if you believe that, why would you address the question in the way you did? We all know where his Stormy helmets came from. There isn't much disputing that they came from original.

Since you seem to want to make this a public issue, I can tell you why it is a delicate subject that we aren't going to sit idly by on... those of you who are coming into this thread and asking "innocent" questions are doing nothing of the sort, and everyone knows it. Lets not play games about what you are doing. You guys have a long history of problems with Gino and he with you. What is being done here is essentially trolling and baiting in an effort to undermine Gino in any way possible. Don't deny it and don't pretend that is not what you are doing. It is, plain and simple. If you do not agree with Gino, that is fine. If you don't like Gino, that is also fine. You guys have an entire sandbox of your own to discredit him until the cows come home. Go do it there. Stop coming in to every thread he posts here on the RPF, looking to start trouble or hoping you can keep picking at him until he loses his cool and gets permanently banned. Move along.

I wasn't aware that anyone had a mould cast from a hero faceplate.
Art, it might sound like we are baiting but we are genuinely interested in how this was cast from an original. The question was asked at the beginning of this thread and we were told by Gino that it was cast from original. This is a bold claim and has never gone unquestioned before.
I think this is great news if this was cast from an original as Gino said but as Joe says there weren't that many to start with and even fewer now.
Was this just a mix of your faceplate, a APH-6 and own sculpts or cast from an original screen used Tie helmet? It's a fair question to ask and shouldn't be heard as baiting, just of interest. We are all passionate about cast from original items and it would just be cool to know. That's all..... Either way it's a great looking helmet, it's just interesting to know of it's origins.......:angel

In no way, Art. Just pure interest to know the origin and how Gino did it.
I love to be inspired by well made things like this!
I´d love to do the same with my helmet parts.

Qui: No, sorry. I don´t know where Ginos trooper helmet comes from. I will browse for it to check it out. This forum is so full of great things, storys and craftmansship.:love

Here is the tear detail on one of the at-at helmets as well (which was converted from an ANH TIE helmet.)

Thank you for clarifying that. Are you going to post pictures of the original donor helmet?

Edit nevermind.
