X-wing scratch

No, there are no new update to this, I have sold the fuselage to Mike Salzo.
So kit scratch I will not work on anymore.

Bump after 4 months. Any new progress on this build? Neither the thread, nor your website have been updated since late September. I'm really eager to see what you do to this.

I knew it was Mike lol, i had this sneaking feeling, thanks Moe, im hoping Mike will use this wonderful hull for the Ver 3 hero :)

bests....lee

Darn. Well, mate, you had a beautiful bird. Here's hoping a better Salzo kit hits the market. I won't be able to afford it, but it'll sure be pretty to look at.

Oh, what kit does the long silver/grey piece come from that makes up the majority of the top of the fuselage behind the R2 unit?

Hey Guys, just a little update on this, first off Moe did a fantastic job on this fuselage, it's just well fantastic.....just a little pic with some wings attached to it....
thanks

Oh my god! It looks like an in progress build from an old ILM photo! Wow, man I can't wait.

Thats just looking awesome Mike, props to Moe for carving out that hull, it brings a tear to the eye!

Dammit, I've built a new butt plate for my Mk 1, and deepened the fuselage, rescribed etc and its all pointless cos I'll have to have this now! :lol

Wow, glad I already sent my order in. I can not wait to get it. Not sure where the heck I am going to be putting it but I know it will hold a center place where it finally is finished.

Er, are these actually on sale now?

I just know this is goin to be a another of those jaw-droppin builds!. Awesome work, look forward to future posts. :eek

Thanks Guys :)
Yes I think so too it will an awesome version when it's finished.
I really look forward to get my copies of it.

Just for a note:
I know it might be a bit tricky to build the cockpit area. It has to be build first due to the reason that the actual canopy frame is build into the fuselage. so the cockpit interior has to be build, painted and glued on to the top fuselage before the two half are put together, there is no way it can be dropped down after. Unless Mike has made that in several smaller section, but then it would still be tricky to paint and build.
But in the end, I think it will be worth it and give the canopy/fuselage a better and more accurate look. Most of the work in that area is based on RED3 pictures which I was lucky to get from MR.
I know that Mike has made a new R2 strip and rear end plate and some other parts too, so all in all it will be a really awesome kit.

Agreed Moe, i love the canopy being integral, been crying for that for years lol, Mike told me she was based heavily on Red 3, what strikes me is the actual bulk of the new hull, its fantastic, though im going with Red 2 for my build!
Cant say ill be going too elaborate on the cockpit to keep it in line with the studio props, so a bit of deft masking should suffice, cant wait to work on, and see others builds on this one :)

Thanks for the reminder about the cockpit area Moe, I have the standard ILM style cockpit as well as a version that looks a little more like the 4ft red 3 for people who are interested. Another thing Moe reminded me about there was the new backplate, it also would need to be installed along with the fuselage or else you would not be able to get it in. I also designed wing mounting blocks that can be mounted away from the body, instead of against the body like the pyro/CC kit, so it mimics the mechanism better. Moe again thanks to you and Frank for all the help and guidance on this, you will have packages on the way this week!!!.
thanks and anyone can PM me for details.

Oh, one other thing too, the wings are larger than the V2/Captain Cardboard wings, and i cast them without the phantom part so they can be built in various engine configurations......bottom pic shows a comparison with the old wing
thanks

@ Lee - LOL! :)

@ Moe and Mike - I love the integral canopy too. It's not like I plan to have the canopy up on an X build. It looks way better this way. Great job.
Also love the new non-straight-sided butt plate area, love the new wings, love the wing plates.

Thanks for responding to the market like this. Looking like a must-have to me.
