Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

More than likely it is only brass plated. I've used primer before, it works well and can also stand in for the brown of the face if you want. I would soak the buckle in alcohol or vinegar for a few hours to remove any oils and provide a slight roughening for the paint to adhere to.

Thanks for the advice it is plated I think I hadn't thought about soaking it but definitely will do

Vanson's finish is incredibly durable, you will have to soak a cloth in rubbing alchohol and scrub like mad to see any change. I use acetone, but be careful, wear rubber gloves, stay away from sparks or open flames, and use in a well ventilated area. Remember to test on a small area like you have done already and let it dry to see the effect.

I figured I wasn't aggressive enough. Thank you! May have to try this tomorrow

Regardless of what is screen accurate or not, I just heard back from Heron and they let me know that they can make the jacket with straight sleeves or curved sleeves, which you prefer. They also said that manufacture time is about a month and a half.

Just need to see some pics soon. WolverineJackets are fashion leather (1.2mm) and look great - much better than the old Heron fashion leather (1mm) so am keen to see what their new fashion leather looks like.

I go by the original jacket which was the red stripped one and it's sleeves are articulated. The one shown is the stunt jacket.

Do we know for sure that the old Heron fashion leather is 1mm? What was the "thicker leather" they used on the upgraded X2 that SuperDrool and others have gotten? Wade at WolverineJackets.com also told me that their leather was about 1.2mm, but it certainly seems like it would be more than just .2mm thicker than the old Heron fashion leather... No?

So Bryan Singer's newest DOFP tweet revealed a quote from the beginning of the script. Supposedly, it's what Xavier will be saying in the intro. It's by Darwin.
"As new species are formed through natural evolution, others will become rarer and rarer, and finally extinct. The forms which stand in closest competition with those undergoing modification and improvement will naturally suffer most."

On the boot issue, I'd have to say the Raider is still the only one that makes the "fit".....There is no toe stitch that I can see, so the "Outlaw" is ruled out, and the ankles on mine are about that height...Fairly high on the ankle when I wear them...That, given the layout of the boot stitching as well would certainly point to the Raider....I can't see anything else that's anywhere close...

Despite the comment that those who bought them may have "jumped the gun", I think given all the evidence that the Raider is the right boot...We'll know more soon, but I can't see it not fitting...Even the height works...

Just my thoughts....

I don't know how you can say for sure that they're the Wolverine Raiders, just by going off of a grainy set photo that shows little to no details. That's just my opinion. I don't think they're the Wolverine Raiders.

Look at this picture, the boots he's wearing look like they have a much taller ankle than the Wolverine Raiders boot. That being said they COULD still be the Raiders, just a version with a higher ankle. I just dont think we should take a grainy set photo and use that as a definite guide to identify something. Personally I think you guys who bought the Wolverine Raiders might have jumped the gun a little bit.

There's also these pictures which show him wearing POSSIBLY a 3rd type of boot.

Incidentally...Those boots in the last two shots (The "possible" other 3rd boot?) are Raiders....Heavily worn in, but Raiders....

.....You can see the lighter suede section on the tongue and the area around the fourth lace hole as well in the close up on the last photo...The colour looks consistent with the Raider, not the Darko...And the raised section around the toes and over the arch is clear as well...As well as all the stitching being spot on for the Raider (although Wolverine tends to keep the same kinds of pattern going in it's boots)...The height from the photo of him on the van is consistent with a 6 inch boot (not the 8 inch), and the colouring, design, and lack of stitching on the toe section all show the Raider to be the one that works closest....You can also see the "X" worked into the leather on the outer uppers near the laces and the four lace holes first on the lower section of the boot....

I'd say there's very little room for doubt there....

With regards..

Wolverine Raiders are made in 2 different colors. One is more dark brown, the other is more of a reddish dark brown. The ones I have are the reddish dark brown ones. They came predistressed and I thought from the pictures I put up earlier that they match up rather well.

Mine are the same....Steel toed version....I love the colour...Very rich brown...And yeah, the slight pre-dis makes them look amazing even when new...After a week or so of wearing, they get some superb wrinkles too...Great boots...

This might help show why the Raider is the choice (with very little doubt at all..)

First, Hugh Jackman's boots..

I tried to line up the foot position with Hugh's in the photo above, but it's not quite right, and my shoes aren't half as bent in as his are..The photo is closer obviously, but you can see all the details there and matching...Including the steel toe, which I believe can be seen on the Jackman photo as a slightly less "crumpled" area near the toes...

I'm glad to hear that they are matching up. I ordered the non steel toed version but mine should be in next week. I look forward to it!!!

I just thought I would share a few pics of the Wolverine I through together for Halloween. I spent the most time making the claws for myself and others of course.

So I'm def agreeing that it's the Wolverine Raiders....I also think they MAY be STEEL TOED....steel toed boots almost always have that distinctive line across the boot tip where the steel toe cap is...hard to see in the pic..but I THINK it's there...lol what say everyone else?

The pattern of boot looks the same....the sole looks different though. Maybe it's from the distressing? Or it's an older style of the Raiders?

I think his boots have been used.....The sole looks the same, the whiter line is less clear, because his have been used a lot more...But there's very little doubt it's the same...I was looking at the photo at work without my shoes to compare..And thought the rear heel looked taller than the one I had..But it's not....The ones I own have the same thick heel area too...The only difference I can see is that the white line is now not white on Jackman's and because mine are brand new, still shows clear.....Essentially...

And yes, I agree with the steel toe area...Looks like there's a slight line over the toes on the close up photo...Leather showing just slightly different colours..
